About Fung Wax Flower
With over 500 species and even more cultivars, there's a Hoya out there for everyone! They're native to Southeast Asia and their common name, waxplant, refers to their thick, waxy leaves which help them retain water in the heat. They're excellent climbers and will take off if you give them a trellis to grow on. Their other-worldly, star-shaped flowers are often fragrant and come in brilliant shades of red, pink, yellow, and more!

Good morningāļøš to #TheThread Humpday sure came around fast this weekš. Its amazing how just making it a 4 day work week speedsšļø things along! I ended up having yesterday mostly off. After loading up and driving to my job the painters werent done. I really need to make up for it though and put in a few full days to get back on schedule. Its our coldest morning so far with a temp of 57š in kansasland. We have a slight warm up into the mid 80s today but then its back into the 70 s for a week or more. In case you missed them, here are a few of our AMAZING members photos from yesterday. Our first awesome plant pic is from @MariansOasis HOYA HAVENš were she has ANOTHER hoya blooom. This unusual and beautiful hoya multiflora shooting starš« is showing its love this year with ANOTHER stunning bloom. @MusicalRedmint had a busy and stressful day. When taking Mr Sleepy for his morning walk he all the sudden started hopping and whimpering! After close inspection by her loving hands, she found he had been stung on the paw by a beeš¢. The poor little guy is healing up but he will be forced to wear his cone until thenš¤. Heres to a speedy recovery MR SLEEPYš! @Preciousplants1 has been caring for this magnificent ZZ plant at her home. Its gotten so full and green under her expert care. All those perfect little leaves seam to be waving and saying " your the BEST miss Sherriš¤". This absolutely majestic cortelydon australis was shared by @Sassylimey yesterday. This has been living the good life out on her patio. But with fall temps approaching it was time to make space inside for this wonderous beast! After clearing a space for it in her bathroom and hurking it into the house, she finally got it situated in its winter resting spot where im sure it will be sooo happy! Good morningāļøš to #TheThread Its Humpday and im up way to early as usualš¤ but atleast it gives me plenty of time for lots of coffeeš«©. I already tried to go out to the porch this morning for my first cup but the mosquitos attacked as soon as i sat downš±! So i retreated back to my recliner for this mornings post. AND DAMN IM ITCHYš”š¤·āāļøš! They got me GOOD! That little rain we had mustve got them worked up cause theyre usually not out this early. I had a pretty easy day at work yesterday and i was home by 1. I didnt do much after i got home though except nap and sit! I thought about repotting my cutlass and squamaferium philo but didnt ever get that far lol. Oh well maybe after work today. Itch itch itchš¤ scratch scratchš”! NO REALLY THEY DESTROYED MY ARMSš! ..... more coffee pauseš..... ok im back with a FULL cupš. We had another awesome day of photos plant tips and great convo yesterday! There were a ton of great pics to browse through but i chose these perfect 5 for this mornings line upš. Our first photo was shared by @PrizedShadscale from her parents yard full of beautiful flowers. Im not sure of what this is? But gregs calling it a red frangipani. Whatever it is, its AMAZINGš¤©! I just love that leaf pattern and those simple but elegant white and yellow flowers just draw your eyes in and ignite the imagination. @Sassylimey is on PEDUNCLE WATCHš±! She says her hoya sunrise has 9!!! COUNT EM! 9!! Peduncles on it currently and as she IMPATIENTLY š¤·āāļøš waits for them to bloomš. Maybe if you watch them theyll open fasterš¤? Jk jk ! Our 3rd photo just had to be a pet photo with that cute faceš„°. This was an accidental share by @SillyPlantGirl of her precious poochie so we didnt get a name for this wonderful girl. But i figured she wouldnt mibd me sharing it! Is it me or is she looking at the camera like " really mom? MORE PICTURES!" š¤·āāļøš you just gotta love DOGS! Photo 4 came to use from @TidyTigerpear plant oasis. This painters pallet anthurium is just a showstopper with those monsterous leaves and bright red flowersš (not flowers). You know that beauty gets a prime spot in the windows at her house! And this gourgeous geranium growing @Prentyce house is our last photo for the day. I thought its perfectly HOT pink huge FLOWERS matched her personality so well it had to brighten your day as much as she does! Sadly thats the end of the showš¤... BUT THERES MORE COFFEEš! Best way to propagate? Hello friends! As I was watering plants in the area of my little baby hoya curtsii I noticed that there was a good number of yellow leaves so I pulled it out to inspect. Somehow on of the vines had completely dried up at the base while the other vine is still going strong with no issues other than some dry soil. I removed the vine that had dried up at the base in hopes of propagating to salvage it but Iām wondering how I should go about this? Iāve never propagated a hoya before and I would hate to lose this vine since it trails at least 12 inches! Would you guys recommend chopping it up or keeping it whole, and what medium would be your top recommendation? Love this low maintenance plant. I have it in a shady window and itās been growing slowly. It would probably grow more if I gave it more light or love, but itās doing well just chillinā in the window hanging.

Love this plant, I think itās so cute. Not a super fast grower. Seems to be pretty hearty in my experience.

Iāve had this one for a little under a year. I have to appreciate it for its ability to tolerate a fair amount of neglect, as the first couple of months I had it, I hardly looked at it save for the occasional watering (it was winter.) This growing season it has started to put out some new growth, and I think it has potentially to be a nice trailing plant one day- however the growth on this one seems slow, so I think that will be more of a long-term goal for this one.
