About Chinese Money Plant
The Chinese money plant was shared through cuttings and grown as a houseplant for 20 years before it was known or studied by British botanists! Pilea peperomioides was first collected in 1906 in the Tsangshan mountain range, which rises to almost 14,000 feet altitude just west of the ancient city of Dali in western Yunnan, China. ā°
Later, while hardly known to Western scientific communities, the species was grown in thousands of private European homes as off-shoots passed from one person to another. š¤

Hi plant community! I adopted this money plant a few years ago when someone left it in the office I moved into. It was already pretty leggy when I took it on and now it looks stressed I guess based on the brown/red coloration that's occurring. I plan to bring it home to transplant it and refresh its soil. Any suggestions for dealing with the legginess? Should I prop it up so it grows straighter and just let it keep going or should I cut and propagate it? Any advice appreciated! This is my first money plant and I have no idea how old it is. #moneyplant #leggyplant

my grandfather gave me this chinese money plant that heās had for a long time about a month ago, and since then itās lots like 75% of its leaves. itās so crazy! Before during and after repotting (same pot just fresh new soil since itās been in the soil I bought it in and ChatGPT said the white stuff was mold š„²) any advice on how to keep her healthy? Iāve had her for over a year and she was a lot bushier but this winter she lost a lot of leafs. Is that normal for this plant? Love this plant, when I bought it it had a few pups that werenāt ready to be separated. I recently separated them from the mom plant and wow they propagate so easy. Got six viable propagations and all of them have new root growth! It grows very fast and has almost doubled in size from when I bought it 3 months ago.
Itās pet friendly so if my cat decides to take a test chomp (and subsequently realize it doesnāt taste good) itāll be fine.
I did an experiment where I potted it in straight LECA for super drainage and even longer periods between watering and so far so good! It tends to be a little dramatic after being repotted but after a week it perks back up. It doesnāt like sharp temperature changes, that tends to be what makes the leaves curl (that and letting me know it needs to be watered).

he grows new leaves every week lol, sometimes iāll find pups too!! doesnāt like the cold and getting leaves wet but otherwise super easy :) i just water whenever the soil is mostly dry, maybe like 75%. repot shock is a bit more obvious with this one but he recovers quickly.

Grows quickly and shoots off baby plants frequently making it easy to propagate. But itās also kind of boring. They like to be dry and have a lot of light but too much direct light with burn the leaves.

Tons of babies at first, went more dormant during colder months and has yet to bounce back. However babies are growing strong and healthy in new pots, lots of gifts for friends. Having some issues with dropping/drooping leaves as it can get a bit picky

The leaves on this plant are just like coins, they are amazing and surprisingly heavier than they look. The Chinese money plant can be prone to burning so keep out of direct sunlight. And rotate every few days to ensure it grows evenly, itās also best to use filtered water!

Very easy starter plant. Water from the bottom and give bright, indirect light. Wait to water until the leaves start to droop - but not too far.
