About Bamboo Palm
One of the most popular of the houseplant palms, the bamboo palm is an excellent choice for adding a tropical flair to your space. The plant gets its name from its growth pattern which is very similar to that of bamboo. In their native habitat of Central America they can grow up to twelve feet, though houseplants tend to be smaller and reach around six feet in height. 🌴

Finding light for Bamboo Palm in your home
a window
Bamboo Palm may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Bamboo Palm in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Bamboo Palm
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Bamboo Palm after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

New Plant Owner, Seeing Issues Hey guys, New bamboo Palm owner here. This is the first time I am really trying to keep this plant alive and well. Noticed these black tips and wilted leaves a couple days into this plant arriving. Leaves started out soft and dark then turned more crispy as days passed. Unaware if the issue is mites, over/under watering, sunlight issues, or something else. Any information would be incredibly helpful, thank you. For reference I water the palm about once every 1.5-2 weeks, about 2.5 cups. It’s about 5 feet from a window getting indirect sunlight. I know it’s far but the shades I have reflect the light against the tree. My pot is not self draining.

I’m new to the bamboo palm life- is this elevated ledge an okay placement? The blinds directly behind it leads to an indoor room (so not an outdoor window) #BambooPalm

Happy Friday, Greggers, Please say a prayer today for my #BambooPalm baby; I call him Morgan Treeman. I transferred him to a new environment because he looked to be outgrowing his original habitat. I believe I may have sent him into shock, because now he’s looking sad and wilted. I don’t believe in L-U-C-K, so I’ll just say he’s been Living-Under-Christ’s-Kindness for almost six months. The care instructions tell me he likes a lot of light, but not direct sunlight. I’ve moved him around a lot trying to find the perfect place for him; I think I’ll just take him back to the kitchen table because that seems to be the brightest room in the house. Do any of you #Bamboo experts and lovers recommend a grow light for Morgan? I’ve been reading up and watched some YouTube videos on grow lights, and think I’ll try my hand again at an #Orchid while I’m at it.

Brown and drying fronds #BambooPalm within the last 2 wks Bambi has been loose fronds. It starts out with this brown rash looking stuff, and it moves downward. I had to cut some fronds off because of it. There is still lots of new growth, and she even has berries developing. Does anyone know what this might be?

Hi. The previous homeowner left this when they moved out 7 years ago. It’s actually still in the same pot. I’m not sure if I should repot it? Stake it up, or something else? At the very least move it so it’s not blocking the tv. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #GreggersSupportingGreggers

My Bamboo palms fronds have been yellowing and leaves have been falling off. I’ve been fighting a spider mite issue for years in this palm and seem to have that under control but now it seems like the canopy is thinning and shedding way faster that usual. #BambooPalm
