What do yβall use instead of moss poles?
I am not LOVING these moss poles and how my plants look on them. Interested in how yβall have your climbing plants set up. Would love to see pictures. Please and thank you. #MiniMonstera #PothosSnowQueen #pipercrocatum #PiperPals #MossPole #climbingPlants #GregGang #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict

Though I donβt have any moss poles yet, I did learn a lot about them as Iβm planning on getting some soon. There is a big difference between moss poles and coco coir poles though. Yours looks like a coco coir pole. They unfortunately donβt give much benefit to Aerial roots other than something to hang onto (in terms of the roots being able to absorb water into them to increase the water uptake and plant growth)
Iβd suggest watching this video from SydneyPlantGuy to get a better idea of different types of poles pros n cons before making another purchase of one, just to get a better idea of what youβll be investing into. π«ΆπΌπ€

I've got some clear plastic, D-shaped poles coming in this week that I've been anxious to try. I'm going to fill them with a mix of bark, perlite, charcoal, & moss.
I don't like straight moss poles, especially this kind. You can find online tutorials for making your own fairly easily and cheaply.
But anything works really. These plants climbs trees/bark, cliffs, rocks, etc in the wild. I've used everything including sticks from the yard before!
I just put my Rhaphidophora and one of my Micans on a circular bamboo trellis from Amazon.

These are the poles I ordered. There are a TON of similar options.
The flat side has holes, the rounded "D" part does not. This will keep it from drying out too fast. It also gives a flat, wide surface for the plant to climb.
You can fill with straight moss, and just water thoroughly when you water the plant. The solid back will let you water without it coming out the back of the pole too.

@planthoe40 oh yeah! The Bamboo poles are cheap and you can cut them down easily! I've used a ton of those!
I threw together a couple of small D-Shaped poles for my Monstera Blanchetii and Syngonium Lance Leaf.
Just used zip ties to hold it together and zip tied a bamboo stake into the middle to hold it in the pot. Plastic mesh was purchased on Amazon a while back.
I filled it with some stuff I had, moss, chunky perlite, orchid bark, and charcoal. I'll just make sure the area behind the vines/nodes don't dry out until I see aerial roots forming. Then water when I water the plant.
I'll be showing y'all the big 4ft plastic pole and a couple others I'm working on soon.

@planthoe40 I agree with @jaysjungle. Heβs the expert in these.
@KikiGoldblatt it's my hubby plant and he absolutely refuses to put him on a moss pole.
