Why is my monstera not growing?
#Monstera Hi! Iโve had this monstera for about 2 months now, it was a cutting from a friend who has a HUGE GIANT mother monstera plant. My baby plant has been pretty much the same since I got it - Iโve named her Dork _^
I water it about once a week, porous soil, lots of light. Is there an issue here? Or is it just busy growing roots? Should I check for roots by removing the soil?
Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

If itโs not dying, probably just let it be for now. Usually with cuttings itโll take them awhile to settle in especially in a new place. It just needs time. If the soil isnโt completely dry no need to water every week. Thatโs a large pot so it will take longer for soil to dry out. The more wet the soil is, the more prone itโll be to rot. So just keep your eye on it and if it starts to decline then Iโd start troubleshooting for issues.
Hi! What a cutie! The cuttings - were they in water before with roots starting, or just put in soil right after? Could possibly be temperature or humidity related, but Iโd imagine itโs likely just still getting used to its new digs and establishing those roots in order gain the energy to start growing big and tall! I think I see a new leaf starting too.
I recently took a cutting of a pothos with a decent aerial root starting and stuck it straight in soil. It took quite some time for it to take off.

@Stephazar the cutting was in water, I put it in soil!
Good day Taneea, if it was mine I would definitely check the roots, I canโt really tell the size of the pot itโs in, so there could be an issue with the roots and without looking youโll never knowโฆ Also, mine really loves to be fertilized with HB-101, when was the last time you gave her any fertilizer ?
It's growing you just can't see it happening. When you transfer from water, or anything really. They first form roots. Until those roots good and strong you won't see growth on top. Because it has to draw energy from the root system to form a nice big monstera leaf! ๐
Since monstera leaves are really big and your cutting was from a monstera with large leaves it can take some time to store the energy needed to produce it.
Because your new leaf won't be small. When it's a cutting it starts out around the same size of the leaf you propagated, which is HUGE! So it will be well worth the wait. She will be the size of a much more mature plant once she's got the energy to pull from. The bigger the leaf the more energy is needed to form it.
She's looking great!! Just be patient she knows what she's doing! ๐ฟ๐ฉท
P.S. absolutely DO NOT dig her up to look at the roots. If you do that you can put her into shock and delay the process. It could even set her back to the beginning stages.
Also, DO NOT fertilize her it can damage those newly starting roots. They are delicate and fragile in the beginning. Wait patiently until you see new leaves. You cannot rush nature! ๐ฉท

What kind of soil is that? Looks different, I can't place it. Anyway, it looks healthy. I wouldn't be concerned unless there are obvious signs of stress. If it was a cutting, then root work is priority. I wouldn't disturb the plants' privates (ie roots) without looking for problems like root rot etc. Give dork time.
@TiptopCatthyme9 I think about a couple of weeks ago
@SuperbRaspfern Iโve fertilized her a couple of times with a water soluble fertilizer. Would you recommend I stop?
@Megongreg what are some signs of stem rot?
@BossChosmo81 yes absolutely stop. That will hinder root growth.
@BossChosmo81 if the stems are getting black and mushy
