Eggshells

Anyone ever used eggshell tea to water your plants? Would you recommend it?! #Monstera #Philodendron #Syngonium #NervePlant #SucculentSquad
@BlessedEmoryoak I haven’t but this is what I found on google. How does eggshells help in plants?
Make an eggshell fertilizer tea to use in your garden. Boil a gallon of water, and then add 10 clean and dry eggshells to it. For a stronger brew, add the shells of up to 20 eggs. Let the shells sit in the water overnight, and then strain the water. Here is a link on it. https://homeguides.sfgate.com/homemade-eggshell-plant-fertilizer-42947.html
I use it every month for like 2-3 times. It's perfect and my plants love it!
Yes, I have been. I clean egg residue, bake and then use coffee grinder (don’t tell husband) to get a fine dust and mix in with the water. I don’t ever boil it. And the water mix is always available to use.
I learned this when I realised the most easily available fertilizer where I live was animal manure, manure and more manure!! Manure is great but not for indoor plants! Organic was basically they way to go. I use it as well as using 🍡 green tea that I’ve left to cool!! I also use the water left over from boiling eggs, also water strained out from boiling rice or pasta! I always make sure these are cooled to room temperature and diluted with equal parts water before use. For me these are great organic ways to boost plant to growth and also make great additions to your normal fertilizing cycles!
Does this work for all indoor plants?
I don’t use much for fertilizers for my potted plants. Anything the plant isn’t using will collect in the pot and eventually kill it. I repot mine with fresh soil at least twice a year. (I also have a lot of succulents that really don’t like rich, fertilized soil. I tend to use the soil from repotting my other plants mixed with coarse sand for them!)
