FEED ME, SEYMOUR ! #cpclubthursday Welcome to CP Club Th...

So I often get asked about feeding CPs and I just want to firstly summarize a few things:
1. CPs can survive without feeding!
2. CPs rely mostly and heavily on photosynthesis for their main energy source, NOT their caught food! Over 70% of their β€œfood” is from photosynthesis hence why light and water are so important to them
3. VFTs are misnamed as they principally eat ground-bound pray like ants 🐜 and NOT flies!
4. VFT have trigger hairs that need to be set off (see previous #cpclubthursday post) but that’s just the initial setting off the trap. They then need further movement or β€œmassaging” to cause further construction and activate their digestive juices
5. Especially for VFTs, live prey is best.
6. Pet Shops often have live insects available in their live reptile 🦎 sections eg mealworms πŸ› and crickets πŸ¦—
7. You can also give your CP dried food but it is not usually as nutritious (it’s like swallowing dried bread 🍞 without water)

In a further post today for #cpclubthursday , I will set out a dried CP food recipe I made up and my VPs love it even thoughthouh I only feed them as an occasionaloccisonal treat.

@Seymour I love Thursday’s and love Merida hope she doesn’t mind me calling her by first name . She’s nothing short from amazing . With all your wonderful information anyone could feel comfortable buying a carnivore plant . As always thanks for the CP show .
I want a nepenthes like Merida. Mine is a baby with two itty bitty pitchers πŸ€—
@Ninabeena Nina, Merida is a favorite of mine and I couldn’t resist her when I saw her as she was so freckly but in a bad way. She is thriving and is a naughty viner 😈 She has a habit of wrapping around my growlight cables or even other plants which I discover when I go to move them. You can read more about her here at #HelpMeNameMyPlant as she was an inspiration for the group.

Now I have another made viner, my Gothica
@ Thanks Deb, your comments are so kind and greatly appreciated. πŸ™What’s your favorite plant ?πŸ€”
