Phalaenopsis Orchid

Can someone maybe give me tips on what to do with your orchid once the flowers end up drooping? I’ve hardly had Luna and unfortunately the blooms are already closing in, but there’s still life! I’ve heard they require more care once the blooms fall but I’m not sure what to do. All and any tips help! <3 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #NewPlantMom #OrchidLovers #PhalaenopsisOrchid #Phalaenopsis #PhalaenopsisOrchids #Orchid

I don’t know how long it’s been since it first started blooming, but looking at it, I believe it may be needing more water. When they are in bloom they need consistency in their care. I have a couple that will start fading after 10 days of not getting watered. I usually water at least once a week because I live in CA. If it’s been in bloom a while it may just be losing them.
@HolyLacealoe Thank you so much for letting me know! <3
The only place I can keep Orchids are in my bathroom. They love humidity.
@SaintlyBrushbox Thank you for the tip! <3

@pinkmilk hi 👋 Taylor. It’s a natural progression for flowers to go by after a few weeks. When it’s a new plant for us we don’t know when it started blooming, especially if it was a gift 🎁. As the flowers start to wilt, at some point when you touch it it will just fall off. I don’t cut mine off. I feel like it might stress the plant and I don’t want to interrupt the blooming cycle 🫣🤫🫢. Once the stalk has lost all flowers then it can be cut off. There is a technique to cut back the stalk and encourage a new flower stalk and there’s info on the web for that. As far as watering 💦 be careful with sphagnum moss, it can retain a lot of water and lead to root rot. Allow it to dry quite a bit before adding water. If it’s in a plastic pot with drainage holes look for the roots to be turning a silvery green and water just enough to see the roots turn brighter green again. Here’s a link to the American Orchid Society page on Phalaenopsis care. 😊 https://www.aos.org/orchid-care/care-sheets/phalaenopsis-culture-sheet
