🎃 What’s your scariest CP? 👻 It’s time to get 👻 Spooky 🫥...

#cpclubthursday CP CLUB THURSDAY for October 31 2024 Halloween 🎃 👻
“Because if it’s Thursday, it’s Carnivorous Plants Club! “
Welcome to #cpclubthursday
🌟NOW OVER 220 MEMBERS !🌟
The Question is “What’s your spookiest 🫥carnivorous plant”?

Mine tends to be my Cephalotus (Australian/Albany Pitcher Plants) as it looks truly “alien” and to me that’s “spooky”. But even a VFT Red Dragon or so many other CPs look 👀 spooky, don’t you think? 🎃 So let’s scare each other with our scariest CP! Trick or treat ? 👻

I have seen some great CPs being shared by #cpclubthursday these week so thanks for including the hashtag to alert other members to your posts!

I have also added many posts about the conditions and care of various CPs in previous #cpclubthursday so I recommend people follow the hashtag, may of them also have my own group #seymour so may be easier to find there.

Add any interesting Carnivorous Plant (CP) facts, photos, or anything CP-related for this week.

Or ask a question of our members related to CPs
Join the CP just by clicking the link #cpclubthursday and clicking join. That is all it takes! Too easy! Shall we make it to 210 or more members? There is already a wealth of CP info so why not just join our growing CP community at #cpclubthursday!

Happy Chompys 😊🪰🦟🚫

Haha 😆 as you know I'm not allowed CPs 😭 but tropical pitches are by FAR the freakiest looking carnivores!! 😱🤣 Xxx
@JenniB81 Hey Jenni, I thought you were going to “disguise” a CP so you could sneak one in, eg a butterwort/Ping.
Maybe you just need more plants so he will never notice the CP hiding within the jungle of other plants 🤔
You just reminded me, I saw some great Nepenthes pitcher plants in a recent sale here, so I’ll add another post about them ! Some were not cheap ! 😀👍🤣🤐🫥
@Seymour
Good morning 👋🏼🧡
That is totally a scary looking CP 😳 😂not sure one for me
My next one will be a butterwort I like the look of them I've just posted my Sonny 😍he's nearly there 🌸
@Chevysgirl11 A Butterwort/Ping is a great one for your next one, Caroline 😀👍 In the meantime, enjoy Sonny’s flower !
Happy Halloween! Officially terrified over here. I’m curious about carnivorous plants, but I’m worried I’d have to feed them if they don’t get enough bugs. Eeewwwew 😱😱😱
@teacher12 actually, they rely mostly on photosynthesis for their energy needs and don’t need to be feed. And many people add fertilizer to their traps/pitchers etc so things like fish flakes, Maxsea fertilizer pellets etc. Even with VFTs that are usually triggered by a moving prey can be tricked so you don’t ever need to feed them bugs.
But if you’re interested in ever getting one, I usually recommend a Cape Sundew which is a sticky leaf CP and can catch the occasional flying insect (great for fungus gnats). They can be feed on fish flakes if you wanted to feed them.
Lots of people here can share their first CP experience eg @Chevysgirl11
But being curious is good 😊 👍
Not that I am trying to talk you into getting a CP 😏😉😉🫥🫥
@Seymour you had recommended I get one for my classroom, and I think that’s a great idea. I went to a plant class and they showed us carnivorous plants, but I find them a little freaky. I just discovered the Cape Sundew and it’s cute. I don’t really have bugs in my classroom, but I have a nice window and the kids could provide the movement. They’ll probably try to feed the plant 🤣🤣🤣😳🌱
@teacher12 Hey Laura, you may have to lock it up 🔐 But in all seriousness the kids would love it! Perhaps they would love it to death but they’d love it 😍 If it ever happens, you’ll have to share some photos (maybe just of the kids hands pointing to the plant so we know it’s in situ and was still alive at the time of taking the photo, at least). 😀😃😄😁😟😐🫥
@Seymour you are right. My daughter and her friends loved my mimosa plant to death. She grew spikes and died a grisly defiant death. 💀 it’s ok though. They’ve already lost some propagating so it’s part of the learning process.
Here is my spookiest plant…. A red #Cephalotus with lots of mouths to feed 😁
@LaSiguanaba I love that!
@UltraKoreanfir Thanks!
@LaSiguanaba Those Cephalotus look picture perfect! Really impressed with the color! The translucent lids give them a ghostly Spooky 👻 look too !
@Seymour My little cephs are looking great aren’t they! I’ve really been trying to give them plenty of light to improve the coloration.
@Seymour I should include my Gothica as it’s a suitable Halloween 🎃 plant
Gothica is beautiful @Seymour 🤩
@LaSiguanaba you helped name her !

@Seymour I did! What would we do without a ‘paper-trail ’ to remind us of these things!?!?!? 😉😁
@LaSiguanaba What can I say? It’s a good name ! 👍
