This one only stopped blooming for a couple days. Itβs been blooming like crazy since winter ended. It ran out of flowers but now already has more. I wonder if itβs because I used thunderhead potting mix for this one. Itβs had some crazy explosive growth in such a short time. I am having to be very careful with watering since the drainage isnβt as good. But the growth is insane. From September 2021 until now the growth doesnβt even look like itβs the same cactus anymore. You can see in the pictures. The most recent pic from today compared to older pictures and compared to how it looked when I first got it and repotted it. I put it in a larger pot than I normally would and used a rich soil thatβs normally for plants more like tomatoes. It says cacti and succulents on the bag of soil but it needs more rocks and perlite to add drainage for most cacti. I decided just to try it since it was only a $4 cactus from the gas station and now it might be my coolest cactus of them all. I did not expect it to be this awesome.
@HolyHollyHawk that jade is awesome. Crazy to find one that old like that at a garage sale!!!
I just got this since my beautiful Crested Euphorbia did get survive that old Aphid attack a few months ago. π Itβs a Crested, variegated euphorbia. @RJG
@KDkat3 holy crap those flowers are awesome
Pic1: a mini garden bed that I transferred 9 individual potted succulent into to now have only one
Pic2: this seems to be a pretty good find
Pic3: the suspense is killing me!!! How much longer is it gonna take to eventually bloom!!!
Pic4: one of my new fairy garden creations
Pic5: this guy will be gifted to a cigar lounge that opened up in the same building as the brewery my husband I go to regularly

@SirLiquorice I pulled it out of the window last night to show my husband. Itβs got so many blooms on it. Iβm shocked. It was droopy today so itβs currently bottom watering. I guess it likes that west window π€·ββοΈ when itβs done blooming so I cut the tall βstalksβ?
@KDkat3 yeah I would probably move it back to the window it is used to. And I wait to cut the old flower stems. Once all the flowers are completely gone then Iβll cut them.
@KDkat3 just be sure not to overwater. The flower stems may droop some due to weight. Check the leaves on the bottom for signs of dehydration or shriveling. If you overwater you can get mealybugs all over the plant. Including on the flower stems. So just be cautious and donβt water unless you think it really needs it. I have learned that the hard way myself
@SirLiquorice yikes!! It did have lots of dry leaves on the bottom of all 3 so I removed some of those that came off easily, gave it a lil water and put it back in the window.
@KDkat3 it looks pretty good. It might have needed some water. It will probably be okay. Just wait for a good amount of time to water again. And a fan nearby can help the soil dry faster. If mealybugs do appear just make sure you donβt water again for a long time. If thereβs not many you can just remove them with tweezers.
@KDkat3 which aloe is that?
@SirLiquorice mine is blooming too! Iβve only had it a couple of weeks, so I havenβt seen any growth. I love all of the blooms! Do you know how long it will bloom?
@PurpleSucculent which one the mammillaria? Those will usually bloom for a few days. Flowers open and close every day for nighttime and daytime. Many other cacti only bloom for one day. Some only two. And some only bloom once at night. But certain mammillaria and gymnoclaycium will bloom for a few days. Flowers last much longer. I have some that have awesome flowers but it sucks they only bloom once. And if you miss it then you have to wait for entirely new flowers to form. Like this one. Awesome flowers but it only lasted that day so I had to take a bunch of pictures right away before they were gone.
@PurpleSucculent this is one that blooms for a few days. Flowers last much longer than others and it gets way more flowers way more often. Itβs still blooming like crazy ever since it got here recently.
@PurpleSucculent this one also only flowers once. I was kinda too late taking pictures and it was closing already.
@SirLiquorice yes, I was talking about the Rose Pincushion cactus that you helped me ID.
@SirLiquorice also those cacti blooms that you just posted are so pretty!
@PurpleSucculent yeah that one should flower for you more than a lot of others. All of my different mammaillaria all seem to bloom for a few days or more. Thatβs whatβs awesome about mamms.
@PurpleSucculent it was labeled snowflake aloe with a lot of pink sun stress color
@KDkat3 I have a Christmas Carol aloe. I really like the white contrasting with the pink on yours.
@PurpleSucculent I have a Christmas carol too! Itβs also super pink from the sun. I was worried my window was too intense for them but they seem to like it!
@julesplants I have yet to be successful propagating a snake plant. How are you doing it? Please share π
@YammieOf3 I actually put them each with a pothos cutting! They say pothos create their own rooting hormone so it helps slower growing plants root a bit faster. Its in front of a south facing window. I only changed the water about twice. I mostly just top it off. One snake cutting has been going for two months now and two others only a little over a month !
@julesplants thanks for sharing! Iβll definitely give this a try.
@YammieOf3 of course!! Good luck to you!!
@ESylvanus my son is losing his mind over this. He wants me to find a pot like that so we can do the same π€£
@KDkat3 I found it on Amazon! They come in a few colors, and technically there is also a matching drip tray! The drip tray for mine didnβt survive shipping, but since Iβm using it for the succulent and donβt water a ton, Iβm not overly concerned about it π
@ESylvanus Iβll have to look! I should have known. Amazon has everything lol
