Philodendron lovers, have y’all seen this one? 🤔
I went to get soil today, and saw this Philodendron Kathleen at the garden center. It’s got so many beautiful colors in it, and it’s huge! I had to grab it 🥰 but I’ve never heard of it or seen one before. @Propa Oh, the scoop on those shades of red-hot leaves of the Kathleen Philodendron? It's like this: the plant's got some party tricks up its sleeve! So, there's this cool thing called "variegation," where parts of the leaves rock different colors. In our case, those sassy red vibes are just the plant flexing its style. It's like having a built-in fashion statement, totally casual and super awesome! 🌿🎉
@Propa found this: a "birdsnest" variety of philodendron, meaning that it grows upright, rather than vining.

Philodendron Cathaline is a new and colorful Aroid that pushes out foliage in wide ranges of reds and greens. LIke other Philodendron Hybrids, they grow upright and every leaf is just a little different than the other. For now, we do not know who bred or what the genetics are behind this new cultivar, but it sure is gorgeous!

@Tropicalgia I had read that they might be a hybrid of the 2! Have you noticed any white potential variegation streaking on yours at all? I noticed quite a few on the minimal results that populated but there’s definitely some on my red leaves. It’s a gorgeous plant for sure im loving the colors😍 @UltraKoreanfir @JungleDreamer thanks for the info guys! Im a Philo collector but I hadn’t seen this one yet 💚
I haven't seen any sign of variegation on mine. It was a smaller plant when I got it. In fact, at first it threw a fit and rotted leaves whenever I watered it. Royal Queen I got in the same order didn't do that, who knows why. I put it in cactus soil and that stabilized it. Yours looks much more established though!

I was immediately struck by how gorgeous the colors were 🥰 absolutely reminded me of mccolley and prince of orange, glad to know it is a hybrid of the two💚 I was very impressed with my garden center today, they had some rare plants in there ( Thai constellation, this Philo Kathleen, some other stuff that’s not as rare now but that they haven’t ever carried like white wizard and squamiferium). Tell your SoilSista to keep an eye out locally😍 you never know what you might find!

@JustPlainDee I got them last year from Brumley & Bloom so they're out of stock. But I believe she still has some mutant manjulas if you're looking for that next pothos to add! 😅
@JustPlainDee 😂 I can absolutely relate! I see so many plants I fall in love with on a daily basis it seems like 🤷♀️ also, I do tons of propagating over here, and now that I am finally in the new house and getting the plant room set up and how I want it, I’ll be unstoppable 😂 I’m sure I’ll have lots of babies in no time
@Propa my family and close friends call my house (inside and out) "the jungle" and Honey actually tells Me [repeatedly] to stop taking in rehabs and stop propagating. I listen sooooo well... which is why there's a rehab in our bathroom, in the loft, and two(2) downstairs in the sitting room along with five(5) props currently in process, not counting my succulent class. 😂🤣😂
