Rootstock or Meyer Lemon?

Meyer, my creatively named #LemonTree, is finally happy outside, for the most part. I fought the fight against #redscale and seem to have gotten rid of them. I hope. Anyway, new growth, buds, flowers and even baby lemons!!
Question is the new growth on the bottom. I’m not sure if it’s from the root stock or the #MeyerLemonTree. Recently the root stock has been trying to grow little shoots, which I pluck off. But the biggest one there at the graft point, I’m not sure. The leaves are super similar but not exactly the same. But also it totally grew outside and the rest started in here.
Yes I need to trim the dead stuff.

So- do I let that grow or cut it off because it’s growing from the rootstock, not my lemon?

I have the same issue. The cold temperatures did a number on my outside plants over the winter. My smaller grafted lemons have growth from the bottom as well.

If your plant were at my house, I would consider how healthy the top is- does it have new growth or is it stick-like?

Since it has grown so many leaves and blossoms and tiny lemons already, I'd probably let it grow for now.

I'm no fruit expert, though. 😬 But that's what I'd do if that tree were at my house.
Lindsey I'm looking into this. Trying to learn myself. πŸ€“
And by research I mean I asked @Kiersten who said you definitely want to cut it off. It'll make lower quality fruit and take energy from the graft.
@RJG and @sarahsalith thank you! It’s definitely the lemon that has a good branch or two and the blooms/fruit. The suspect part is just leaves for now. I will βœ‚οΈ it! Thanks!
