Anyone experience this or have some insight?
I have a no ID alocasia that I believe to be an alocasia sandriana. I moved it indoors due to predicted nighttime temps falling bellow 50 degrees. I noticed when back lit it appears to have this variegated look to the leaves, which it did not have when I purchased it. Not sure if this is a sign of impending doom, or a fluke. Anyone experience this? Alocasias do great for me, but this one has me a little baffled and worried. Itβs my favorite of course ππ. #AlocasiaAddicts #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Alocasia

Uhhhh..... I dunno. The way the light is shining through the leaves makes for some awesome pics, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the overall leaf patterns.
(Might just be me. I didn't sleep well last night, so my brain isn't at full capacity right now)
Can you get a picture of the full plant without the window behind it?
Other than that, the relative regularity of the patterns in the first pic make me think you're right about it just being some cool variegation, and like @LiftLashPlant, I also really hope that's the case, because those are some really cool looking patterns.
Good luck! Hope your baby's ok!

@LiftLashPlant thank you!
@PoisedAlbo thatβs a pretty one you have there! Mine does not look like that. I only noticed the pattern due to the back light. I attached a pic of it without back lighting. I think @AmyM is correct and itβs edema.
@AmyM I think you are correct. I had recently watered it and then when I moved it inside there was the abrupt change in temps and humidity.
@TigerCrab999 thank you! I think @AmyM hit the nail on the head. I had recently watered it and then had moved it indoors, so I think it is edema created by the abrupt change in temps and humidity coupled with damp soil. While I love the interesting look of the leaves, this one is not variegated. Hereβs a couple pics of a leaf very minimally affected towards the bottom. I still love it though.
@EnjoyableKanna well first thing is to adjust watering schedule. Also make sure the plant is not in standing water if using a cache pot to bottom water. You can increase temperature and air flow to help the plant. If it happens on rare occasions, a plant can likely recover ok. If it happens frequently however it can damage the leaves.
@MamaAuntCa thank you so much for your tip!
