Tips needed

Found this cutie in a large pile of sad looking plants at Walmart. I could have picked out a bunch more. Some looked much better. Might go back tomorrow. Anyway, this plant type is new to me. I put it in my bathroom on a shelf next to a south window. Replanted it also. Any tips are appreciated. #Begonia #PolkaDotBegonia #NewPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #HappyPlants #PlantTherapy

I absolutely love mine. They are toxic to cats. They like water once a week to every two weeks. Just keep an eye on your soil. I water mine every two weeks. I’m not sure where you live but mine loves the west sun, it gets the most of it.
@GoodyIcecaps78 I have cats. That’s why all my plants are on shelves or hanging. Thank you for the tips. I live southwest of Detroit.
@LeadChincactus my pleasure. Another thing, they root easily in a cup of water. I’ve rooted the leaves, they just take a little longer.
@GoodyIcecaps78 maybe I should do that with this one.
@LeadChincactus it would definitely expand the roots.
I have this begonia and mine loves to drink. I keep it in a self watering pot otherwise I’d be watering it every 3-4 days. Once yours gets established and it won’t take long, you may want to consider self watering
@TRose the only problem with self-watering is it causes bugs.
I use the mosquito drops all my plants waterings and I don’t get issues with gnats. Just a couple drops in every gallon and it lasts forever. MICROBE-LIFT BMC Biological Mosquito Control, Liquid
You could grow in leca or pon as well to not have bugs
@TRose I just ordered some. We have gnats to get rid of!
@LeadChincactus I find that since begonia roots are so thin and shallow, they can rot really easily if they stay damp for too long. You will see everywhere telling you to never let them dry out, but I have found the opposite: they *need* to dry out πŸ’― before I water them again. I don’t let them stay 100% dry for longer than a day, I aim to water mine the day that they get bone dry. If you start getting brown tips, it’s because they were watered too soon. Good luck! Feel free to tag me if you ever need begonia help, I love them πŸ₯°
I have mine in a chunkier soil but I let the reservoir go dry before watering again.
I got one too and it’s doing great! Been so easy to bring back and take care of .
I’ve killed three of those. Even Greg couldn’t help. πŸ₯Ί I love the way these look but my serial-killing ways have scared me from trying again. Good luck!! πŸ€
It is cute!
