Another #plantnamesunday for me as I demand #HelpMeNameMyPlant (over 50 members!) as created by @Corinne.
So here’s a new plant with a definite Australia outlook! It’s a Kangaroo Paw and is the State Emblem for Western Australia (the largest state and no guesses as to where it is located on the continent LOL). This cultivator is called Bush Fire (what we call Wild Fires over in the land Down Under) and is beauty, maaaaate!
So I am thinking a kangaroo theme or if that is too much of a challenge then maybe to do with the color and fire?
I love the scene in Crocodile Dundee when Mick Dundee has a kangaroo shooting back! It’s a climatic moment of the tables being turned and I love it and the music that goes with it (do yourself a favor and watch this movie at least once as it was the biggest independent movie in the world at the time, even if it hasn’t aged that well, I guess). But there are some beautiful scenes and the romance between the main actors was real as they married (although now divorced) and had a son. And it does have some classsic Aussie human and some classic lines.
I think @Boymom-plantmom actually has a kangaroo paw if my memory serves me well. And if not, I am blaming “long Covid” and just “Biden” my time so I can come up Trumps LOL (wow never a dull moment in American politics !?!)
Anyway, what shall I call this magnificent example for a Kangaroo Paw. Any ideas?

@Peachyhoyas Thanks Victoria, if you look back at the early #HelpMeNameMyPlant it kind of happened as a result of a few great names for two of my plants Pinky Gossamer (a VFT) and Merida (a Nepenthes) and @Corinne started the group which has been quite popular

@Ninabeena Nina, I am sensing a true crime novel title here and I never thought my kangaroo 🦘 paw had such a violent streak… I was hopping 🦘, I mean hoping for something a little less like a Arnie or Van Damme action film title

@LaSiguanaba Are you a a fan of Red Dwarf!?! That’s a classic British comedy series that has stood the test of time and I love it 🥰 (hey it’s comedy 🎭) but I am not sure my kangaroo paw has a comedy aspect? But Super Nova is a great name and has a power and majesty to it

@PleaseLeaf Hahaha Bri, I love that movie too, even if it presented itself as a kids movie (bit of false advertising). Thoroughly enjoyed it and have no problem watching it whenever it pops up.

I mean it has a Canadian playing the Aussie girl in it and a “rapping” Kangaroo 🦘
So not the kids movie it appeared to be so I’m sure many unhappy parents took their kids only to find adult themes
Plus its portrayal of Australia is hysterical 😂 but pure entertainment

Imagine getting a Canadian synchronized swimmer to play the Aussie outback girl and manage to get Christopher Walken and Michael Shannon amongst others to be in the film. It’s so bad, it’s great 😂 😂 😂 And the lead actors are great comics

@ballondusoleil I think it was aimed at the teenager boys demographic but the advertising fooled many a parent into thinking it was a lovely kids movie about a talking kangaroo 🦘 It’s more of a a silly comedy 🎭 involving adult themes and was meant to be something else entirely. But it is really “bad” as in it should have been straight to video so you have been warned 😂
