Finding light for Purple Velvet Plant in your home
a window
Purple Velvet Plant may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Purple Velvet Plant in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Purple Velvet Plant
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Purple Velvet Plant after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

My Purple Velvet is a little droopy and I’m not sure what is wrong #PurpleVelvetPlant I just recently got this Purple Violet and already it’s looking a little sad and droopy. It wasn’t like this when I got it and I’ve been giving it water so I’m not sure whats wrong. Maybe I need less water, better soil, or less sunlight?

Is it too late? Hello I’m brand new to owning plants :) And my Purple Velvet Plant looks extremely sad, I am quite sure I have over watered it. I have let it dry on some paper but it’s been looking like this for a week now… Is it too late to save this plant? Thanks for answers 😊 #PurpleVelvetPlant

I didn’t realize my purple passion plant was dramatic until now 😭 Up until now, she’s been thriving and super chill… she just kind of hangs out, she’s grown beautifully since I got her…. Then out of no where… BOOM! She’s screaming for water!!! I’m so sorry queen, promise I’ll never forget you again. Immediately went to bottom watering cause the soil was just so… dry. My bad, we’ve all been there! 😭 She’ll be okay 🫶

If you’re having trouble with getting the watering right on this one, maybe try wick-watering? It’s working great for me. Mine was starting to look sad with some crispy brown leaves, and I wasn’t sure if it was too much direct sunlight or not enough water. But since I restarted her with wick-watering (I added lots of perlite to the soil mix to keep it airy) and moved her 1-2 feet back from the window, she seems really happy.

So she’s a bit of a drama Queen. I’m still looking for the perfect spot for her to thrive in. She has survived near death so I give her that much. The leaves are a dream, that perfect hue of purple. If you can manage the find perfect setting, she will be gorge. 4stars because she’s a bit of a hassle.
