Of all the hoyas that have bloomed for me recently.... this is one I'm actually proud of. as in "I'm counting this one as an achievement" proud. Since I've heard the serpens can sometimes be difficult to bloom, I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw some of the myriad peduncles they seem to put out "just in case" regularly were actually developing more. This one is actually the first of several peduncles about to bloom, and I can't believe my fuzzy cutsey luck. Each singular blossom is about the size of a leaf, making the comparatively huge peduncles surrounded by the tiny "snake" heads absolutely magnificent.
Like with her daughter, the Mathilde, I'm not a fan of its fragrance, but really, who cares: One of my hoya serpens is in bloom!
I will try to capture the whole plant when more peduncles are open, because the size difference between peduncles and leaves is so remarkable, but for now I was scared to move the plant until the blooms are fully open. #hoya #hoyahangout #plantsmakepeoplehappy #happyplants #pedunclewatch

My carnosas are among my very first hoyas, have grown to the point that they have already taken over a whole wall in my study and still wouldn't even think of blooming, I'm certain. 😅 so madam, I tip my hat to you (is that a thing? It sounds like a thing. If it's not, I'm declaring it a thing. I'm tiiiired.). So, hats off to you.
