Naming Your Plants
So, I'm super curious about how everyone goes about naming their plants! I usually use the scientific name to craft a "people-y" name, but I also might come up with a name related to something else... example: silver dragon alocasia = Norbert (dragon from Harry Potter). I also frequently name on a theme, example: snake plants = types of snakes and pothos/devil's ivy = different names for the "devil". Lol

@HeyLillie I do just about the same as you. My PPP is named "Diana," and my larger Aglaonema Pictum Tricolor is named "Camo." 😁
I like your formulas! Honestly, I just give them the first name that pops into my head that I think fits them! And I’ve named a few after some of my friends. I use a lot of Greek mythology names too, because I love Greek mythology. And Egyptian. I will probably start using those soon. I’m very random, I guess. Lol

@HeyLillie that’s fantastic! I’ve always wanted to foster. If I ever get my own home, I will. You live in Texas, right? One dog that we adopted last summer came from Texas! She was found in a cornfield and brought to a kill shelter; luckily there’s a dog rescue that raises money and buys as many dogs as they can every month, and our sweet girl Mia was one of them 🥹 She definitely has some trauma, but she’s getting better every day, understanding that she is finally “home” and loved. She is the sweetest thing 🥰 My mom loves to dress her up, lol. So glad there are people like you to help dogs like her ♥️
I name very chaoticlly.. lol if someone gives me a plant, I'll likely name it based off their name some how, but not their name. If not I'll name it from the letter it starts with, plus their personality that suits the name. If that makes sense 😆 but there's also a lot of random naming that goes on. All are female names though.. Love the dogs, guys!!!
i go with the attributes the plant has, or sometimes either the cultivar or scientific name gives me inspiration :) a handful of them are named after people
