So this villain showed up today and I planted him in the sphagnum moss into the pot that was included. How does he look? I just had to have him and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is sphagnum moss okay or should I have added some perlite with it?

Hi!! He looks pretty good! Pure sphagnum moss is a-okay to use, many people use it. As always, just make sure to keep it always watered with distilled water (or rainwater) and give it lots of light (6-8 hrs direct sunlight, 12-14ish hrs under a 40watt growlight). And also make sure to provide the winter dormancy period :) If you've got any questions feel free to ask! π
P.s. if you end up liking Sarracenia a lot, one of my personal favs is Sarracenia Flava var. Ornata & also Sarracenia Leucophylla. They're both beautiful! There's also some beautiful hybrids between S. Flava & S. Leucophylla as well. Sarracenia are truly an entire world to be explored !

@Ninabeena hi!! It all depends on how cold it gets in your area. Sarracenia Purpurea are the most cold hardy of all of the Sarracenia (they grow up into parts of Canada), but there's still a limit. I wouldn't let it stay outside if the temps are below 20Β°F for an extended period of time. Snow can actually help because it'll help insulate the roots and what not a bit. One of the biggest cold issues with them is wind chill. Also, hard freezes aren't good either.
