Just got my first Hoya! Very excited to see it grow. Just waiting to repot, but it’s going to go in a hanging plant in a southern window that has a tree in front of it so it doesn’t get blasted with direct light. Any tips would be appreciated! #HoyaHangout #Hoya #HoyaHeads #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #HangingPlants

@Frebs i personally wouldn’t upsize that large with just 1-2 cuttings in the pot with this particular plant. Maybe grow it out a bit so you can get some more nodes, then you can start a bunch of new cuttings in the larger pot. But it’s your plant! If you up-pot it to much it’ll just spend longer growing roots to fill the pot first.
This one likes light! If you see the new growth coming in with less variegation, give it more light! It can pick up some pretty colors with the sun stress.
My mum tells me Hoyas like to be a little root bound so don’t go too big with your next pot.
No help here, just a bit of envy. I was standing in front of an unvariegated one a few days back and almost took it with me. Have fun and please post updates πŸ˜€
@SturdyEmerald is right on that. Small and plastic pot! Hoyas are epiphytic so they’ll latch on to terracotta so it can cause problems if you overly dry the plant or go to repot it eventually.
They like to dry out! And don’t water more volume than suggested. It doesn’t seem like enough for the size of the plant but it is. My first Hoya was Kerri, it gets 1/8 cup and every time I don’t know how he survives on so little water πŸ’§ but he’s 4 years old now and thriving πŸ‘. So with all the others I stuck with the amount of πŸ’¦ Greg suggested. Hasn’t steered me wrong, they’re all thriving 😊
@Alinaa I have a hanging resin has pot that’s 4.5 inches. Would that work?
