Cantaloupe for Days!! I started these as seeds in May. By the end of May they had to be put in the ground. Hubby built me 2 βTeepeesβ for all the plants to grow up on, rather than take over the yard lol. Now- I have 28 Melons!! Holy Cow- 18, and Iβm sure there are more that we canβt see. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #GregGang
@SillyPlantGirl CATHERINE!!! How exciting! My hubby will be so jealous, he wants to grow cantaloupe so badly. I think itβs tougher in our area, but still possible π€π»
@SpyderLily absolutely! Itβs been fun watching them grow like this. Had to guide a few of them up (liked the ground better lol), but this has been the easiest melon grow ever. I also think the Electroculter I made (look between each plant in first pics, I think- copper antennae) is what made them grow so fast and healthy.
@SillyPlantGirl How fun!!!! I love the teepee idea!!! π₯°π
@debbiedo you have a shorter growing season there right? Start them indoors in May then transplant to garden in June. These melons need heat so make sure the soil stays as warm as possible and provide as much sun as possible. It takes 80-90 days for cantaloupe to mature. Here in TX I donβt have that issue- I had to put up a sail to keep it cooler!! Itβs absolutely possible!!
@princesspitstop me too! I was hesitant because they really take over, but the teepee made it a breeze!
@SillyPlantGirl Oh I know they do lol when my son was little we were drying some cantaloupe seeds outside and he decided they were ready to be planted so he planted them all over the yard. We couldn't mow a good chunk of the grass for a while π€£
@princesspitstop omggg!!!
@SillyPlantGirl , yay !!!π₯³ππ It looks like a beautiful harvest.
@princesspitstop , Heidi, beneficiary planting done by a toddler! π€―π₯°
@SillyPlantGirl , Catherine, could you explain making the electroculter and where you came by it? Iβm so intrigued right now!
