Cantaloupe for Days!! I started these as seeds in May. By the end of May they had to be put in the ground. Hubby built me 2 β€œTeepees” for all the plants to grow up on, rather than take over the yard lol. Now- I have 28 Melons!! Holy Cow- 18, and I’m sure there are more that we can’t see. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #GregGang
Forgot the melons πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@SillyPlantGirl CATHERINE!!! How exciting! My hubby will be so jealous, he wants to grow cantaloupe so badly. I think it’s tougher in our area, but still possible 🀞🏻
I've never seen a setup like that! Such a space saver!! Do you mind if I save your pictures to show my boyfriend? He's extremely handy and could definitely build those, they'd be great next summer for zucchini and yellow squash 😍
@SpyderLily absolutely! It’s been fun watching them grow like this. Had to guide a few of them up (liked the ground better lol), but this has been the easiest melon grow ever. I also think the Electroculter I made (look between each plant in first pics, I think- copper antennae) is what made them grow so fast and healthy.
@SillyPlantGirl How fun!!!! I love the teepee idea!!! πŸ₯°πŸŽ‰
@debbiedo you have a shorter growing season there right? Start them indoors in May then transplant to garden in June. These melons need heat so make sure the soil stays as warm as possible and provide as much sun as possible. It takes 80-90 days for cantaloupe to mature. Here in TX I don’t have that issue- I had to put up a sail to keep it cooler!! It’s absolutely possible!!
@princesspitstop me too! I was hesitant because they really take over, but the teepee made it a breeze!
@SillyPlantGirl Oh I know they do lol when my son was little we were drying some cantaloupe seeds outside and he decided they were ready to be planted so he planted them all over the yard. We couldn't mow a good chunk of the grass for a while 🀣
@princesspitstop omggg!!!
@SillyPlantGirl , yay !!!πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸ‘ It looks like a beautiful harvest.
@princesspitstop , Heidi, beneficiary planting done by a toddler! 🀯πŸ₯°
@SillyPlantGirl , Catherine, could you explain making the electroculter and where you came by it? I’m so intrigued right now!
