Happy #WhatTheSuccWednesday! I’m really late with my post today because…life. I’m sorry if you were waiting on pins and needles 😂 I kid. SO, I have a lot to report this week! 1&2: My #GhostPlant cuttings are REALLY rooting! 👻🤗💖 I credit the Grow formula from #WetheWild . It’s an Australian company that recently made its products available in the US, and I can’t say enough good things about this stuff! (NOT sponsored but I wouldn’t turn it down! I want to try every single product now!) 🌱 It’s concentrated worm castings and my plants are all producing like I’ve never seen. And rooting is taking half the time it usually does! Which brings me to No. 3: my #TigerToothAloe which lost all its roots back when I was a #Succulent newbie and didn’t understand correct soil mixes, ratios etc. I’ve had her in water and she starting growing her roots back immediately, but as you can see, it’s really taking off now! In No. 4, my #TaciveriaTasha is blooming, which is always fun 🌸 and in No. 5 (I might be cheating here, because I don’t think this counts as a succulent, but I’m so excited I have to share!), I took a leaf cutting from my #KenyanViolet and stuck it in water 2 months ago to see if it would root. Now, not only are the roots numerous and thick, but look at the baby plant starting to grow! I immediately planted it in loose soil and can’t wait to see what happens next! I have one more fun update in the comments (darn 5 photo limit!😂) #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #SucculentSquad #Succulents #AfricanViolet #RootPorn #Aloe #PLANTMAFIA #Propagation

My last update on the post: Remember when half of my new succulents from the big box stores turned out to have a disease called Fusarium Wilt and killed a dozen plants (the death toll has risen since then due to it spreading before I caught it, and symptoms taking a while to show up 😭). Well, my #JetBeadsStonecrop were among the doomed, so I chopped & propped their heads, which are doing great so far, and I also took any leaves from the tops that were still healthy so I could prom them, too. Turns out, they root ridiculously easily, and I now have a whole crop of babies growing! I’m super excited because this is my first attempt at propagating succulents and they are all doing amazing so far! 🥳🌱
@Alycia these particular succulent leaves root extremely easily for me, for some reason! But I have others that have been sitting on soil for weeks and not rooting. But if you want to try it, you will need a healthy leaf from your plant and when you pull it off be careful not to damage the tip that connects to the stem, or it definitely won’t root! Once you have your leaf, lay it on top of soil out of direct light until it roots (times vary widely!) once it does, you’ll want to put it in a container with a lid like I have. I used a clear sauce container from a Chinese restaurant, it works great! Lets lots of light in. Then you will mist your soil in the container very sparingly but keep it juuuust barely moist. If you spray your leaf, dab the water off with a tissue or it could rot. We want just the roots wet. Over what feels like forever, baby plants will start growing and when they’re big enough you can put your plantlets in their own pot! I’m sure there’s an article somewhere that has much better instructions but that’s the gist of how I do it lol. And the Grow formula is amazing! You will be stunned 💚
@BabeVila yes, you would be the perfect USA & Canadian rep, Shannon, (I assume you're "born in the USA" 🇺🇸) and I could be the Australian rep! The same as where there ingredients are made for the US and Australian products. 😉 The good news for u is a much bigger population!!! Mmm, you never know...😂👍🙏
@Seymour Unfortunately for me, yes… I’ve always wanted to live in the English countryside, but oh well. Haha. New York isn’t so bad upstate, away from the city (No shade to city dwellers, I am just a country mouse and cities are not for me). Lots of beautiful mountains and hiking trails! Anyway yes I think that’s an excellent plan. Lol
@BabeVila I join you in the English countryside idea, or for me even Irish would do me nicely! Have you been to the UK?
I did enjoy my brief visits to New York but then they were relatively brief.
Yes, your hiking with that active puppy...I recall now.
So Shannon, now all we need to do is come up with a "Shark Tank"-like 🦈 pitch to make to We Are Wild, or else we will be very wild!!! 😂
I just love it that you are such a fan of the product as I felt I was the only one onto a good thing until you 😆 🤣 In the meantime, we will just have to spread the word! What's not to love with the product?🙂👍

I always don’t enjoy the five picture limit rule! Greg is still a great app tho. 🌸🌲🍃🌿🌱🌵 #gregisamazing
@FlowerFairy thank you!!! Propagation is so fun once I got the hang of it! And I’m going to plant the ghost plant this weekend—wish me luck!! I’m a little worried about transferring from water to soil and how they might respond lol
@Avocadonerd Greg is my favorite place ever 🥰 I get to talk about plants and nothing else, and no one is annoyed and sick of hearing it? Lmao and everyone is SO kind and helpful and supportive, it’s like what the rest of the internet SHOULD be. #GregFam
@BabeVila sigh, the internet needs to be cleaned up a little if u know what I mean. With Greg you just enjoy life and plants! (Let’s be honest, plants are a little better than humans)
@FlowerFairy it’s good to know it’s not only me who may experience the real life “ugh, plants again?” looks from family and friends 😂 but also, they need to get with the program 🪴 This is definitely one of my happy places 💚
@BabeVila I'm starting to fall more and more in love with succulents 🤭🪴
They are just all so cute and plumb, and the shapes and colours 🤭😍🪴
I just got two new ones the other day, and I just can't get over how cute they are!
I just need to find some pots for them that will compliment them 🤭🌱

@BabeVila so cool! Your updates give me hope and motivation 😆😅🤦🏻♀️ for propagating the cut leaves- do you put them in open water or in a container with a lid? andhow much water should I add? leaves in
@HopelesslyGreen Hey! That’s so cool to hear, thanks 🥰 and just to clarify, are you talking about succulent leaves, or “regular” plant leaves (like the African Violet)? Different methods for each, and then within the succulent category, different methods for leaves vs stem cuttings. But I’ll be happy to share whichever you want! 💚
@BabeVila I’m definitely going to try the African violet leaf in water! But specifically wondering the best way to propagate succulent leaves, I don’t have enough of the plant to do stems
@HopelesslyGreen So, you need to start with a healthy leaf from the original plant, gently pop it off and make sure the base stays intact, or else it won’t root. Then I just lay them on top of soil in a little plastic Chinese takeout container in bright indirect light. Some take longer than others to root, so if it takes up to 8 weeks, don’t fret! I’ve had some take that long! But usually within 3 weeks, I get roots. Then I spray the roots only (or you can use a dropper or syringe, it’s important not to get water on the leaves) every 3-4 days so the soil around the roots stays juuuust barely moist. From there, more roots typically grow, and in a week or two you’ll notice a tiny new plant growing at the base of the leaf. Leave it in the container and continue watering only the roots as needed and sparingly. Eventually they’ll be big enough to put in their own tiny pots (I get 1” terracotta pots for them) and depending on what direction the roots are facing, sideways I just cover them with a bit of soil and they will find their way downward. If the roots are already down I make a small hole in the soil of the new pot with a chopstick and gently place it in bc the roots will be a bit fragile at this stage. A good idea to use sand around the roots so there is less chance of tearing from friction. From there, it should be fine to care for it like any other succulent! I have several growing right now that I can show you if you want a visual lol.
@HopelesslyGreen oh, I forgot to mention, when they are in the takeout container make sure you have a lid that’s clear and lets light in because they will need to stay covered most of the time. When they are big enough the lid can come off
@BabeVila awesome thank you! I’m going to give it a go lol
@HopelesslyGreen yay! Here’s a picture of my current succulent props for inspiration! Let me know how yours turn out, I’d love to see their progress 💚
