Dream plant alert! #PlantMail

Meet Meire, my #Philodendron #Melanochrysum #PhilodendronMelanochrysum

This was on my shopping list for a loooong time. I finally got it! Received it today. It's still a baby, so I'll wait for a bit before I install a pole, but be sure I will because I want to see these leaves GROW!!

However, look at this beautiful brown leaf already! Isn't it beautiful? It's in a 10 centimeter pot and I can't stop looking at it.

😍 Wow! It IS beautiful!
She’s a beautiful one. Such a rich velvety look. We will be watching!🌱πŸͺ΄πŸ‘€
@Arid_oasis I’ll keep you guys posted! And next week I’m getting my Billitiae! So excited!
Stunning! πŸͺ΄
@Aikalovesphilos thank you, Erika! Just imagine once it’s on the pole and producing the most amazing giant leaves! πŸ’š
@Gustavo completely agree that will be absolutely divine!
I like the look of this one. How big do they need to be for a pole? I have a couple of philos that are still small.
Nice! I love the way these look especially the mature ones on the internet when the leaves get really long. I have one in a moss pole. It’s a steady grower and attaches to the pole easily. My leaves haven’t sized up yet after about 6 months but it puts out new growth constantly. When I got mine it looked about the same size as yours. Aside from it putting out 1 mangled leaf which I cut off it seems happy. Enjoy your new plant!
One thing about moss poles I’ve noticed is it doesn’t hurt to put them on sooner because it seems like the newest node is the one that will catch onto the Moss pole. the older nodes don’t. So the sooner you attached to a moss pole, the more roots that we have in the faster it should grow. οΏΌοΏΌ it just doesn’t look as pretty in the beginning when the moss pole is empty. οΏΌbut I think with this type of philodendron, it is kind of a slow growing one. Just to compare to the philodendron splendid I got them both around the same time. And if you look at the photo of my Melanochrysum right next to it is a leaf from the philodendron splendid that sized up that much within a year even though when I bought them, they were both about the same size. The philodendron splendid grew all the way to my ceiling, and I had to cut it in half and propagate .οΏΌ
Wow, those colors are incredible!
@SFplantlover Thank you so much for your insight!

I don't intend on wasting any time before putting it on a pole! I'm just waiting a bit because since it's still on a 4''/10 centimeter pot, it's still quite small. However, I'm thinking I'll wait a month or two before I move it to a bigger pot - one that can actually fit a pole, mainly, and start using it! I personally can't wait. Going to start with a 25cm pole.

I'm also thinking what kind of moss pole I'm going to use, but definitely not going to waste a lot of time :)
@debbiedo aren’t they?! I’m still in awe!
