Meet Vlad and Lucy, the latest carnivorous plants to enter my lair. Both of these predators were supermarket rescues and I’m hoping that with a lot of TLC (and a little bit of blood πŸ§›πŸ»β€β™€οΈ), this dynamic duo will soon begin to thrive! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantCorner #PlantLove #CarnivorousPlants #cpclubthursday #VenusFlyTrap #PitcherPlant #RepotSeason

πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ looks awesome man
That Sarracenia is GORGEOUS !! πŸ™ŒπŸ˜
@Macstracks Thanks, I just did a ton of repotting and I put together my terrarium! Not sure how well it went, but it’s my first try, πŸ˜‚. The terrarium I bought was too small, so these guys get their own pots. The β€˜big reveal’ will be Thursday, for #cpclubthursday . 😁
@Merranda Thanks! Can you believe I found him at the supermarket??? 🀣
@LaSiguanaba The supermarkets near me pretty much only have orchids & common houseplants - I don't think I've ever seen a vft let alone a Sarracenia at one! Truly a lucky find 😁
@LaSiguanaba πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ Hell Yeah!! Cannot wait to see it for real!!
@Merranda It was a Trader Joe’s, so maybe that makes a difference? I find they carry really interesting plants sometimes. I got both of these there.
@Macstracks Well, it is my first time making something like this, so… I hope I did it right and that the plants survive! πŸ€ͺ I really want to post a pic now, but I need something for Thursday, πŸ˜‚.
@LaSiguanaba I wish I had a trader Joe's by me! That's awesome
Just got a Publix & a Winn-Dixie pretty much, and walmart if you count it. The Walmarts garden section by me is terrible though πŸ˜”
@LaSiguanaba πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I’m sure you did amazing. I got something in mind for Thursday. I’m gonna start working on it this evening lol. Not as cool as what you got going on but wanted to try something for the new plants that are coming in soon lol
@Macstracks Okay, now I’m really intrigued!!! 🧐 I can’t wait to see what you come up with for Thursday! ☺️
@LaSiguanaba 😜😜 Right Me Either πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@Merranda Are there any good plant/gardening shops in your area? I only recently discovered a great shop I pass almost every day, πŸ˜‚
@LaSiguanaba Honestly, not really. I'm not in a very large/built up area. My favorite in-person nursery is called Bloom Garden Shop & it's in Tampa.. Unfortunately Tampa is a really long drive away πŸ˜…
All of my local nurseries are over 30 minutes away, unfortunately (which even then is only 2 places).
@LaSiguanaba Vlad, interesting name but it doesn't pale into insignificant when it is compared to Lucy, nor does it hide in her shadow mahahahahaha πŸ§›β€β™‚οΈπŸ’‹ Holy Istanbul, it's the Dynamic Duo πŸ¦‡πŸ¦‡ Well, they both look good in their coffins ⚰️ ⚰️, I mean pots. Love the blood mahahahah πŸ§›β€β™‚οΈπŸ’‹red coloring so I am entirely sucked in by these two lovely CPs. Fangs for posting, Rose Red 🌹
@Merranda I’m sorry to hear that. Fortunately, there are lots of great online sources you can order from. Can you visit any home and garden shows in your area? I found they always have some great plant finds!
@Seymour Well, I must confess that I have a weakness for creatures of the night, so Vlad and Lucy seemed like good choices. πŸŒ™ πŸ§›πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
@Macstracks I get the feeling that this Thursday we’ll have some interesting posts! I can’t wait!!! πŸ˜ƒ
πŸ”₯
Nice!
would love to have a carnivorous plant!
Beautiful!! Mine is now 3 years old. Living its best life
@Merranda I found one for you seller is in Florida! see pic.
Carnivorous plants are a bold move!!! I’m so impressed. And also shocked they’re in the supermarket lol
OH my gOODNESS I LOVE their colours! 🀯 The collections of reddish orangey yellowy greens and they ways they all fade between each other are GORGEOUS πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜πŸ€© I’m sure these little chompers are already SO much happier and will absolutely thrive in your care! ☺️
@proffesorsprout They truly are amazing! Once you get one it kinda starts an addiction (speaking from experience here haha). Carnivorous plants are an entire world to explore, and I wholeheartedly recommend getting one!
They're pretty simple once you've read up on their care :) (depends on the type of cp obviously)
If you go to #cpclubthursday you can see lots of amazing posts about them!
@Merranda truly! I love it!!!
@Ms.Persnickety I appreciate it! I've actually been looking to get another Nepenthes so I might look into that seller πŸ€”
@pcakes5000 That is a beautiful Sarracenia as well! The cover that you have over it makes it almost look mysterious

@proffesorsprout you should totally get one Gracie!
@pcakes5000 Wow, she’s gorgeous!!! You’ve taken amazing care of her!
@PlantSuccer I’m surprised by the things I’ve found at supermarkets! ☺️
@proffesorsprout Gracie elizabeth (both lovely names, by the way) there are many people here who felt the same and I have provided some information at the following link to help people like you. And we are all happy to help, support and answer any questions. Owning a CP may be easier and closer than you might think. If you join the club you will get a better idea this Thursday #cpclubthursday
Any questions, just let us know.
@signorebean Thank you! I hope they do! ☺️
@pcakes5000 Patty, I think you just inspired me, thank you. I have some Sarracenia that I rescued and they need a new home 🏑
Anyway join us this Thursday
@LaSiguanaba so do you feed your pitcher plant? I just bought an eye dropper and syringe so I can feed my pitchers and even sundews. You can feed your spoon leaf and sundew fish flakes (eg insect larvae) I was telling Tristan as he was expecting some sundews, his first ever CPs, I think. I make a cricket powderπŸ¦— and mealworm pie for mine as well. You can get live food from the reptile area of a pet store.
@LaSiguanaba I bought another ear dropper and syringe at the pharmacy so I can prepare for more feeding.
