I posted this photo to help identify this plant. Here is a plant that, maybe, few people see although they are very common here in the swamps or almost anywhere ditches can be found. This a Water Hemlock plant. It looks very much, in appearance , to Queen Ann’s lace. The difference is there is a purple coloration in the stems where they bifurcate. The flowers also are larger. If you see one do not even touch it. @Malagueña oh my gosh, I’ve just been teaching my daughter how to identify plants in the parsley family! Because, while it is a family that has lots of common edible things like parsley, dill, carrot etc. it also has some of the most toxic plants in North America! Water Hemlock is pretty much the worst one of them all. A very awful death awaits from just eating a tiny bit. 😵🫣 EDIT: It can also cause mild to severe dermatitis upon even touching it!
How to identify? Compound umbels! Umbels are like an umbrella of flowers, and compound umbels means it an umbel made of many other umbels! So, as I told my daughter, if you see flowers like these, an umbrella like cluster of flowers that’s comprised of many smaller umbrellas of flowers, do NOT EVER eat them. Unless a trusted and knowledgeable adult has okayed it (such as when we’re picking parsley in a garden)

@DreamMachine , Hi Nadia, you are very welcome.. I’ve seen a lot of people online confusing this with Queen Anne’s lace and even an edible plant. I thought I would put this on here as a positive ID. This is definitely water hemlock.
@Malagueña yes! It is often mistaken for Queen Anne’s Lace, aka Wild Carrot, which is often foraged for and eaten where I am. But water hemlock will have smooth stems with purple blotches.
