About Red Heart

Syngonium podophyllum is a popular, easy-to-care-for houseplant with beautiful arrowhead shaped leaves. You’ll often see these plants grown in their juvenile stage, but given something to climb on and abundant sunlight you may see them mature into their adult stage! The leaf shape changes as they mature and may even appear to split into three individual leaves. In the wild they can climb up to 65 feet tall. Be sure to handle them with care, as their sap contains oxalic acid which can be very irritating to the skin and eyes. 👀

Leaves stay a brighter green. It’s easy to clean up when leaves do shed. Propagate by finding nodes along stem and trimming just below, playing node in water. It doesn’t take a lot of care and isn’t fickle about watering or sunlight, in my experience.

No issues so far. One left turned burn and yellow fast. I removed it but since then the plant has been thriving. No issues that I’m aware of yet.

I was given a clipping of an AP, and it not only survived a cross country drive, it is alive and thriving while being propped in water! It’s a beautiful plant and I can’t wait to see it thrive even more.

This particular hybrid Syngonium is a smaller leaf variety, remains compact, and grows slowly. Really likes more humidity than bright light so placed near other low light, humidity hungry plants. She grows slowly but getting slightly fuller over the past 8 months.

Probably one of the easiest plants. Needs a good amount of light and will reach towards the light so remembering to turn this one so it doesn’t become lopsided is key!

LOVE THIS PLANT!! I keep mine about 10 feet from my window, and it still thrives! The coloring is beautiful, and it has been growing so quickly, even in winter. If you need a low light plant that still looks beautiful, get an arrowhead!

I see so many people having great success with these plants but I can’t figure out why my leaves are browning so easily. I keep trying to save it but can’t figure out what’s going on.

Such an easy to care for, non-finicky plant. It’s doubled in size in just a few months and keeps putting out new leaves. Water when soil is dry or leaves get droopy and give it good bright indirect light and it should stay happy!
