How to fertilize Crested Cotton Pole Cactus

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Crested Cotton Pole Cactus after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Help from a cactus! Hi everyone 👋🏼! Can anyone help me with my plant?! I don’t know what happened. I followed everything, like watering time, direct sunlight, type of pot etc. It got droopy and almost smooshy but now it’s hard again but lost its “needles” and it’s stuck in that position. Thanks in advance ! #help #GregGang #plantdoctor #HappyPlants #PlantAddict

Sunburn? #EvesNeedle Hi all! You may not remember me but I've returned to Greg after a move, and having lost some plants due to it. I will slowly be re adding them back. This little guy came eitj me, but now in a South facing window I suspect sunburn? Or disease? Any thoughts?

I left her outside overnight by accident and the temperatures dropped, when I brought her inside the next day every branch was dropping and falling over. How do I mend her? #EvesNeedle

Yellowing mushy leaves on Eve’s pin I’m very much a plant beginner, so please be gentle. My Eve’s needle came to me so tiny, and it’s grown wonderfully in the past year. It has far exceeded my expectations. But in the past month, its leaves have started to get yellow and mushy. It seems to be leaning away from the light. So: what am I doing wrong? Does she need more water? Less? More direct sunlight? Less? Does she need a larger pot? Thank you, in advance.

Base rotting? My Eve’s Needle is healthy up top but the base isn’t looking so great. Not sure if it’s just natural aging or something I need to fix? Help! 🙏

🐶 🐈 👶 Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plant’s toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA at US (888) 426-4435.
💨 Humidity
Crested Cotton Pole Cactus prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
🪴 Soil
Crested Cotton Pole Cactus is very sensitive to wet soil, so choose a potting soil that drains very well and doesn’t retain too much moisture. A good soil will have lots of perlite or vermiculite for drainage and some organic matter for nutrition. A few handfuls of perlite added to regular store-bought cactus soil will do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Crested Cotton Pole Cactus grows very slowly and doesn’t require added fertilizer. Replacing your plant’s potting soil once a year should provide them with more than enough nutrition. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
🌎 Native Region
Crested Cotton Pole Cactus is native to South America.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
