Japanese Gastrochilus may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.

How to fertilize Japanese Gastrochilus
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Japanese Gastrochilus after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Should I keep my japanese gastrochillus in a humidity cupboard, or will it thrive in my home environment with humidity at 47%?

Swamp method? My little mini orchids were drying out too quickly with being mounted on wood, so I took alternate measures and now one is thriving! The other has been holding on for dear life for a few months now, but still hasn't gotten worse. I'm still holding out hope for a root to show up. It's such a prefect environment for the sphagnum that it's growing, too.
