Did you know that all plants in the Ficus genus produce figs? In fact, the word Ficus quite literally means figs! Even cooler, all figs are pollinated by tiny wasps that use the fruits as a safe place to raise their young. 🐝 Ficus plants also contain latex which emerges as a milky sap when twigs are broken. This latex makes them toxic, so be sure to keep a close eye out if you have children or pets!

so not ALL my #Ficus plants are shooting out new growth, but to be fair, the ones that aren’t are dying 😂😂 #ivebeensmokingplantstoo so i’ve decided to take a buncha pics of my growing ficuses and explain who they are in my garden. photos are: #FicusShivereana (named Micus in my garden 😂😂 i let my brother-in-law name it) whose new leaf i was not personally responsible for bc it was coming in when i bought it, but the next one will be all me! second and third pics are a #FicusReligiosa named “bus stop gutter near jamun” bc i found it in a bus stop gutter near a giant #MalabarPlum that i’ve harvested from before😂😂 all those new leaves are me! when i first brought it home, it had a little leaf that quickly shriveled and died. i assume it wanted to focus more energy on establishing roots in its new home. and i’m glad it did! now she’s pushing out three new leaves at once and has grown about three inches since i adopted it 17 days ago! fourth is a #FloridaStranglerFig or #FicusAurea named “found on a carrotwood tree near the bus stop” i don’t think i have to explain the reasoning for that 😂😂 fifth pic is a doozy! all three are #FicusAurea plants as well. biggest one at the top of the photo is called “found on my break at work” the white-container one is called “found otw to whole foods after work” and the smallest one actually grew from the roots stuck in the sidewalk after taking “otw to WF” so has been aptly named 😂😂 i’ve added the #BohdiTree as the plant for this post bc it’s my favorite at the moment hehe #FicusGang #FicusFam #NewGrowth #Ficus

i’m a prop chicken i just recently had to stake my #FicusReligiosa it’s shot up like 5-6 inches since i found the little guy, and tbqh it doesn’t look like the growth is gonna stop anytime soon. should i just keep it supported, or should i chop and prop the top (maybe just plant it next to the first stem). if that’s the thing i should do should i chop on the woody stem or new growth? i call myself a prop chicken bc it’s my favorite plant. it was a seedling i found and it’s been so good and growing for me i’m scared that if i chop it, it won’t be happy and i’ll lose both the chopped bit and the main plant any thoughts and opinions will be very appreciated #Ficus #FicusGang #FicusFam

My bodhi had an infestation. I recently moved it inside so it’s adjusting to that after being out all summer. I think I burned the leaves with Neem oil in my haste to get rid of infection. It has lost most of its leaves and looks miserable. My daughter suggested I cut it at a node and let it regrow. What do y’all think? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PestControl

There was an infestation, I accidentally burned some leaves with the Neem oil, plus Marley was NOT happy about moving inside due to cold temperatures! This is my baby so I am over the moon that it is finally regrowing leaves after looking like a stick in a pot for several weeks!!
