Alocasia New Guinea Gold
About Alocasia New Guinea Gold
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

How to fertilize Alocasia New Guinea Gold
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia New Guinea Gold after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Alocasia Polly yellowing leaf tips One of my leaves is starting to yellow, and I had to cut a mushy tip off of the another one. It gets filtered sunlight and is often put next to a humidifier… I’ve only had this plant for about 10 days and have it in an orchid bark & tropical soil mix… the soil is currently slightly moist and I have only watered it twice, pretty sparingly. The pot has a drainage hole so it is not holding on to extra water. It is putting out a new leaf, which makes me confused as to why it seems to be unhappy. Any tips for what could be the problem or how I can fix this before it gets worse??
