How to fertilize Italian Maple

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Italian Maple after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Why is my Spring Delight Japanese Maple growing a red stem and leaves? This maple has been on my rooftop patio for ages, and when I was watering today I noticed a little red stem and leaves growing on it, what’s up with that?!

Can I propagate Japanese maples by cuttings with an indoor grow light? I’ve done lots of research but the only thing I don’t have is a great spot outside to place the container. I am hoping there’s a way I can do this inside. Thanks! #JapaneseMaple

Hey all! I recently moved into a new house that has a young trident maple planted in the front lawn. I was wondering what is the best time of day to water the tree? #TridentMaple

@RJG Why is Greg so bad at identifying Japanese maples? It always thinks it’s marijuana 😂 Ok ok I guess the Shishigashira looks a little bit like marijuana. Are there any plans on adding cultivars, especially for care of JMs, sunlight, soil type, and watering can vary a great deal between the different varieties.

Not as upright and straight backed as it was. Leaves limp and turning green. Not quite as happy as it was 6 weeks ago, although still growing. #JapaneseMaple

Japanese maple not doing so well, too much water or too little? Diseased?

Does this look like root rot? My acer palmatum pre-bonsai had been growing well, but at some point the leaves started browning heavily from the edges inward. At first I thought it could be leaf scorching due to too much sun, so I put it somewhere else where it would only get sun in the morning and just a little bit at noon (just didn’t have an even shadier spot available). Other than that, in bonsai class they said: “acer is a tree that loves humidity, and as a bonsai, it should be watered every day”… at the beginning I watered it fully everyday because the soils would always get dry, eventually the temperature started dropping a bit, and sometimes soil would still be slightly moist, so I would only spray it a little bit, assuming the next day it would get dry. Anyway, my tree started looking worse and worse, so I decided to check the roots, took it out of the pot, rinsed the roots, they’re not completely dry yet, but I took this pic before deciding to repot. I’d like to make sure first.
