Brown Turkey Fig
About Brown Turkey Fig
Did you know that all plants in the Ficus genus produce figs? In fact, the word Ficus quite literally means figs! Even cooler, all figs are pollinated by tiny wasps that use the fruits as a safe place to raise their young. 🐝 Ficus plants also contain latex which emerges as a milky sap when twigs are broken. This latex makes them toxic, so be sure to keep a close eye out if you have children or pets!

How to fertilize Brown Turkey Fig
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Brown Turkey Fig after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

#BrownTurkeyFig update. For those of us in the frozen north, who have to bring our fig trees in and out, the spring is a time of GREAT excitement. I am the proud plant mom of a multi fruit producing plant. 🤪 last year I ate 5 tiny perfect figs from my plant, fingers crossed for a bountiful harvest this year! 😂😂😂 My little Baesil beauty has so many baby figs 🤎🤎🤎 #FruitTrees #EdiblePlants

Future Fig Planning Hey there! I got this fig tree in the early spring and it’s doubled in size over the past 3 months. 😳 🌳💪🏻 Unfortunately, I do t live in a climate where keeping him outdoors in winter is an option. Hell have to spent at least 2, maybe 3, months indoors. The pot he’s in is an old one, and it’s cracked on the back (and ugly… 😂🤷🏻). I’m trying to think of ways to repot him in a larger planter that’s easier to carry and affordable. Has anyone here tried fabric grow basket/buckets? I’ve included some screenshots of ones I’ve seen online, and I’m curious to see if folks have seen success with them. My partner has been calling local grocery stores to see if they have 10 gallon buckets they’re getting rid of, but some other planty person keeps beating us to them. 💩 Another option I’ve seen is putting drainage drainage holes into the bottom of those rope handle buckets that I remember living in over the summers in the 90s. 😂😂🤷🏻 Any advice? 😁

Sick plans ID #Ficus hi all this a a pastilliere fig tree and his leaves are slowly yellowing and falling off. He was also fruiting but all his little guys never matured and fell off. Was trying my hand at container raising this tree, yes 2yo. Doesn’t seem happy…anybody have clarity?

When I first got this fig tree, it was little more than a stick with a couple of leaves. Fast forward a few months, and here’s where we’re at—lush, green leaves and tons of new growth. I have ‘Figaro’ in a pot for now, but at this rate, he may need a nice space in my garden to lay down some roots and one day, provide us with figs. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Fig #figtree #FruitTrees
