Identity theft

When I first got Ronaldo, his pink stems were my favorite thing about him. But he was my first succulent, I had no idea what I was doing, and it got rough there for a while. I THOUGHT I had managed to save parts of him even as the big stems withered.

I thought that it was because it was winter, the light wasn’t strong enough, and that’s why his new growth stems weren’t pink anymore; that the original plant was dehydrated, and that’s why its leaves weren’t as plump as the new growth. But comparing the two pictures, it’s clear that Ronaldo was originally an elephant bush, and this new growth is NOT.

Now I have to figure out what this plant is, and do I rename him?? #PlantID #WhatTheSuccWednesday #SucculentSquad #SuccuLove #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

In the first picture he is a Rainbow Elephant Bush. I have one. Since the shoot is all green could be a few things... 1) Not enough light and it reverted to all green 2) it's a totally different shoot, a regular Jade Plant. But if the big plant is still red stemmed, it's a elephant bush.... Hope this all makes since!! #ElephantBush #Jade #TheWateringHole πŸͺ΄πŸŒ΅πŸœπŸ¦‹πŸž and a cute name "Dumbo" elephant bush... Yes... No...
It is Sedum Adolphii in the second photo. It needs more bright light.
@ZestyWhiteghost the big plant died. Not sure why when the smaller, bright green ones around it survived. But those bright green ones are all that’s left of the original potted plant I bought at Home Depot. I can only surmise that someone mispotted two different plants because they looked alike?
@vvvelo it is a little leggy at the bottom but now that the sun is starting shine directly on it for a few hours a day, the growth at the top is starting to come in! I’m excited to see if, but sad that it’s not the pink-stemmed one is originally bought.
@RootWrangler Yeah, these guys love sun. They need a lot of it. Then they stay compact and turn yellow and orange.
