What’s up with my cactus?
He is NOT overwatered. He is nice and firm, no mushy spots, though there are wrinkles forming. The soil he came with is hydrophobic. I try to soak it but is it not enough? @BabeVila if he is firm I don't think he is underwatered🤔 The soil might not be as hydrophpbic as you think? He is standing a little low in that pot, condensation might be sticking to his skin at the bottom a little longer than he likes? Is he standing near a drafty or cold window? (Condensation and moisture can also come from the window). Droplets staying on his skin after just a normal watering might also have caused just a small wound which he is reacting to by corking.
He might also actually be getting a little too much light🙈 As a Gymnocalycium most of them actually prefers very bright indirect light😅
Some wrinkles might be natural though, as he gets more top-heavy and is stabilizing the bottom by corking.
As long as the wrinkely spot isn't mushy, I wouldn't worry.

@MockingJay I bet you’re right about the light! I gave my other one too much light as well 🤦🏻♀️ @Boymom-plantmom I definitely need to give him a gritty mix, he’s still in the nursery soil, I was afraid of damaging his roots because it’s like a dried out brick, even though I bottom water and let him soak! The water never seems to penetrate the brick of soil but the outer roots get water so I guess it’s enough. But what would you do about that? The dirt literally will not even crumble! I’m so scared of messing up the roots 🫣 I can post a pic when I get home of that part!
@MockingJay Oh I forgot to answer your other questions—no drafts or windows anywhere close, I bottom water so I don’t usually get water on him (try to avoid fungal issues!) 💚
