Fertilizer Help

Hi Greg fam! I’m still quite new to plants and I’d like to start preparing to fertilize! I’m confused on frequency. I found an awesome dropper that is formulated to be used every water, but then Greg suggests every few months or even less! Any advice would be very helpful :)

Hi! I too was confused by Greg’s weight recommendation before. Then, folks here recommended me to simply follow the fertilizer’s instruction and use Greg more as a calendar. I would say it’s always best to err on the light side than giving too much!
Hey, Greg is constantly learning. Some plants are fast growers and others take their own sweet time growing. Depending on which plant it is, the need for feeding changes substantially.

Too much fertiliser can lead to fertiliser burn and too little can hinder your plants growth.

One way to regularly fertilise your plants is to dilute to 1/4 the strength that is actually recommended on the bottle.
I too fertilise with almost every watering but the fertiliser solution is way more diluted than what I recommended. This way I avoid over fertilising the plants

Avoid fertilising during slower growth or winter months. The plant grows slower and so doesn’t need the feed as much as it will during its active growth period.

Hope this helps. Happy growing!
Her formula is different than Greg’s because it is much more diluted. I use hers and do every watering and it works like it’s supposed it. It is magic stuff and I have had so much new growth since using it as she describes. Greg is recommending using a stronger formula less if that makes sense. I know several of us here use hers with every watering and have had great success!
Hi Robbi!

A lot of people on here LOVE Happy Happy Houseplant!

I think the confusion here is that HHH is plant FOOD and Greg's schedule is for FERTILIZER, and they are different things.

Plant food can be given every watering or every other because it's things the plant is already making naturally.
Fertilizer are a boost of nutrients the plant isn't already making, which is why they need to be used sparingly.

Personally, I am afraid of fertilizer and only use plant food. I might try some slow release this spring, though.
@robbi_rose Hello 👋 Robbie, yes most of us LOVE Happy Happy Houseplant food/fertilizer. One thing is for sure my plants love 💕 it.

I love it as well as @sarahsalith @Sassylimey. I can’t remember who else is using it. But it’s the most amazing stuff ever.
@robbi_rose here are some of my plants I can tell a huge difference in.
@robbi_rose here are more.
@TwistedThreads unfortunately she doesn’t ship to Canada 🥹 I’ll have to find an alternative online @PlantMompy
Ahh, bummer!
I use a 20-20-20 food with leafy plants that I don’t want to flower. I dilute it so much it doesn’t burn but it works and produces foliage.

For flowering shrubs, I use MG for roses.

I do keep in mind that while my anthuriums are kept in a stable temp, they are naturally heavy feeders just like my Gloriosums. My succulents can handle the 20-20-20 at 2-2-2 every two weeks if I want them to grow so that’s what I give them.

I don’t use HH. However, I also supplement with micro and macro nutrients to keep them happy and green. I like the balanced food for my succies and cacti.
@robbi_rose the Happy Happy plant food is amazing. Surely somebody (me) could get happy happy plant food here in the states for you and send it to you. Let me know!!! 🥰
