When to repot?
Now, normally I'd wait a few weeks or months before repotting new plants to let them acclimate, however I brought home some plants today (a ficus, yucca, cacti) and the soil looks... not great. There were also signs of pests in the store and lots of gnats.
Would it be wise to repot anyway, as well as treating the plants with some bug spray? Regardless, these guys will be quarantined in my bathroom for a few weeks. I just wonder if it's best to get the stress out of the way now, rather than deal with anything lurking in the soil at a later date.
Thanks in advance, Greggers! ðą

@incognico I'm wondering the same thing right now, the plants I've bought recently seem to be in soil that never dries out... But I'm scared to shock them. @Boymom-plantmom Do you ever find your plants act shocked when you repot them right away? I want to repot mine but don't have the confidence..ðŠīð
@LuxuryMint yes they go into some sort of shock just bringing them home to a different environment so why not just go ahead and repot!
@AstroMind there are definitely some gnats, and i know from last summer (my first planty summer!) that they're a nightmare to control.
@Boymom-plantmom this has been my line of thinking, ive repot plants more or less straight away before and had mixed success. i might go ahead and pot the cacti and yucca at least, into something better draining!

I can only speak to the cacti, I would remove all of the nursery soil that you can and let them sit and heal the roots for a few days before repotting in a well- draining mix. Then don't water for at least a week, probably more... it's still dormancy period. I absolutely love the shape that those cereus are growing in, it looks so picturesque
