Orchid tips?

Question

Hi, I just got my very first orchid and I was wondering if anyone had any tips I should know. Thanks in advance!!! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy

Don’t be surprised if the blooms die or start to look unhealthy. All orchid blooms are not permanent and they have to eventually die. If your leaves at the bottom look good, it’s just part of the cycle!

Don’t overwater!!! I think that’s the number 1 cause of orchid demise!

@Z03Y some people say to water an orchid with ice cubes once a week.....don't follow that advice!!  That's a sure shock to the plant.  You can soak them in water for about 10 minutes, then drain.  They do not like to have thier roots constantly sitting in water.  Also they do thrive in a humid spot, I keep mine in my bathroom in front of a window with a blind, for bright indirect light!!

Beautiful orchid. The one thing I've learned about these mini phals is they come in those cute little pots but their roots are around a little spongy thing that they are grown in. Unfortunately that spongy thing needs to be removed carefully and your orchid potted up in orchid bark in an orchid pot. I've done this and sacrificed the blooms to keep the plant healthy. They will bloom again, this is one of mine blooming again 🌺🥰🌱🌿💛 happy growing 🌱💗

The only thing I’d change is you don’t necessarily need to soak every single week - every two might be ok.
