How long can a plant sit in hydrogen peroxide water?
I recently had to chop my plants roots because of root rot. Some roots were okay, and the plant had nodes. I put them in mostly water and added hydrogen peroxide to kill any more rot or fungus. How long should it be until I use just water? I’ve heard different things on YouTube. Thanks for any help! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PLANTMAFIA #PlantTherapy #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PetsAndPlants #MonsteraMonday #PestControl #NewPlantMom
Is it a monstera? Which variety? And how much peroxide/water ratio? Some plants are more sensitive to peroxide that others. A stronger solution, like 1 part peroxide to 3 parts water can be used for a quick soak like 30 min to an hour. A more diluted solution can be used to water plants, to add oxegen to the soil, or to kill pests living in the soil.
@nellz4estfairyz it’s like a capful or two of peroxide and full jar of water. It’s a monsters, pathos, and peace lily.. I used miraae-grow soil and it didn’t have enough drainage. Thank you for all your help!
@Momstera thank you!
@Flowergirl2222 I think at that ratio of peroxide to water it is pretty safe and *probably* will help all of those plants. I know someone who puts small amounts of peroxide in almost all of there water propagation and leca propagation plants.
@Flowergirl2222 H2O2 tends to degrade over time so it depends how strong it is and for how long. It is probably fine to add water by now. Too strong for too long can kill the good bacteria in the soil as well. I hope this helps answer your question. All the best 👌
