step 1: 70% rubbing alcohol and a qtip, look over the plant and dab any big bugs you see with the alcohol (don’t do it in the sun it will burn the leaves) this will kill them instantly by removing their waxy coating and then burning them
step 2: make a spray with 1 quart water, 1 cup alcohol, and like 2 drops of dish soap, spray all over the plant, in all the crevasse and in between any branches, ALL over the leaves and a little bit on the top soil. wipe down all the leaves with a microfiber cloth
step 3: with neem oil spray the plant again and wipe down just to prevent them
now keep your plant in a low lit area for a little bit just to make sure nothing burns, and keep it away from any other plants.
repeat this every 3-4 days but i check the plant ever day for big ones and spot treat it then.
Mealy bugs. Kill them with a q tip dipped in alcohol. Check daily and kill all the ones you see. I’ve had a infestation on my bird of paradise before and have kept them in check doing that.
πŸ˜– Those are mealybugs. Grab some rubbing alcohol and wipe them away with the alcohol.

Do this every other day for about three weeks. At least mealybugs are easy to see.
Oh, and it’s important to watch your other plants. They can spread.
Thank you all! I had no idea those were bugs.
How do they get on the plants?
I just got them on my china doll too. they are tough to completely get rid of
@KenzieT i’m not really sure where they start, but chances are the plant had it at the store, they come from other plants, or if your plant was outside they pop up from outside too
@KenzieT When I was googling about them in my bird of paradise I read that they are prone to mealy bugs. I had mine for about 5-6 months before the bugs showed up and it’s no where near other plants. They live in the cracks and crevices of the stems where you can’t see them. Make sure you look in every fold and crack of the leaves too under them and inside sheath of the stems at the bottom
