Phone app
Does this app tell you anything at all about diseases and what you should do for them? I mean I have not found that feature so I’m going with no but I would hate to assume and be missing out on something just because I can’t find it. Ha! That is the only thing I’m lacking, and I am wanting, some other plant app just popped up for 59 bucks for a lifetime. I love this app and the commmunity. The ONLY thing like I mentioned is not getting told what’s “wrong” but how the hell does an app really truly know?? I don’t necessarily see myself having to different apps just for my plants, but just curious if other people do, and/or if I’m missing something here on that. Happy Thursdaysay! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #apps #HappyPlants #PlantTherapy #NewPlantMom #PestControl
Hi Lisa...umm, there is another app (apparently) that does that when you take a picture but you will just have to "picture this" 😉😉 app in your mind to find the relevant app 😆 I think you might be onto it....but if you have in mind the same app, it does offer weekly or monthly as well as yearly rates so you could just check your plants over a week? There is also another app that will "Bloom" into your mind but it also offers a weekly rate. Both rely on photo and AI to determine health (based on eg color, blemishes). Maybe the answer for the Greg app is "not yet "? That's my contribution 😀
Hey Lisa!
Great question. We don't have an automatic diagnosis feature currently. Maybe in the future but we found that with the myriad of issues that can cause various plants to look sick or unwell, that it's realllly hard to automate that accurately.
Our hope for now is the community (and our Greg Team Members when they have time to kick it) is that spot for you. We have so many passionate plant experts here just waiting to help with any issue you may have! And if they're ever stumped you can always tag me and i can find an expert or look into it for you!

@Keysgirl0179 Drew does raise a good point and that is perhaps why this app has such a great "community" as it is "Greggers helping "Greggers" with human response rather than AI. I've tried other apps for answers but Greg has answered where the others couldn't and also added humor or just humanity to the interaction. Plus, in my experience, the AI responses are not always accurate. I would compare it to using a finger or stick to check the moisture of the soil compared to a moisture meter and in my experience the finger or stick tends to be a better option. But it is interesting to compare and contrast different apps and what they offer. Maybe the answer will be AI to help initially as a filter and then human...it seems to be the way the world is currently heading. So there's my further contribution (and no, I am not a robot LOL 😉..though sometimes I wish I was)👍😆
This community has been more helpful than those apps. I promise! Post a pic and usually in 30 minutes you have what it is, options to treat it, a myriad of products you can buy in your area and a store closest to you and people that will come back and ask how it’s going. #justsayin 😏
@TheOddAsity in a way we all are living proof of this as you have helped me out countless times ! 👍😀
@Seymour yeah I know :) I always get the most helpful and wonderful responses and people. I’m much rather have people than AI, well most of the time lol. I mean like I had already said initially like I think it would be really hard to just point your phone at one plant and it pin it right on the head of what the issue is and this plant needs Worcestershire sauce to be OK or this plant needs whole milk to be OK, hahaha I mean, that’s nuts that it can even do that to me. Computers technology, all of it can be so creepy and cool. Ha!!! Drew, thank you so much for your input and almost every other time I go to put a plant in I have to research it, and Erica has been a wonderful help. She helps with putting plants into the database all the time for me. . I’m the kind of person who will reach out over and over before screwing something up. Lots of wonderful people on this app also like I mentioned, I would never leave “Greg” that’s for sure.
@Keysgirl0179 I didn't even know Greg stood for Gregarious until someone pointed it out as I thought it was named after someone LOL and then it made sense. But I have tried other apps and they have their uses but you may also gather I spend a little time on this app. But all discussion is healthy and I appreciate you raising this for consideration. There was even AI that could detect if someone had Covid and to a high level of accuracy but it still isnt the same as taking a swab test I guess.
I just wish there was a better searchability and other features on Greg but, like me, it's a work in progress and I know they are working on improvements so will see what gets released 😉🤔😀 After all, it is thanks to Greg that I have been able to interact with you and others 😊 😀 ☺️

@Keysgirl0179 I've got a feeling there will be a lot more discussions about AI...but it's just a feeling LOL 😂😆😉🤔🥴 i find my phone can be annoying because it is always doing what I call "autoincorrections" to what I type 🤨🫤😖😵💫
@Seymour @Keysgirl0179 @BabeVila don’t get me wrong… I may or may not have gone to ChatGPT and said “if I have a 6” nursery pot with a ____ planted inside and I mix equal parts of coco chips, perlite blah blah….. what is the expected outcome?” And yeah, ChatGPT has helped. But I would much rather come here and interact with all y’all. 🤷🏼♀️😂♥️
@TheOddAsity never thought of ChatGPT but that is a very clever idea, April. Thanks for sharing
@Keysgirl0179 Hey there Lisa. 👋 I'm pretty good with diseases and ways to help fix them. May I ask what diseases you think your plant has?
@RootsnShoots honestly I have no clue! I didn’t think any of plants had any diseases until today. I saw a sad, horrible, leaf on my pink princess philodendron. It’s a second leaf that was almost like transparent, it was very discolored and very dead, but the rest of the plant looks very healthy and it just came out of nowhere. I saw the second leaf today looking horrible and I didn’t have my phone with me to take a picture of it so I just tossed it. I’m thinking of replanting her because I’m not really sure what else to do
@Keysgirl0179 Thannyou Lisa. I'll reply back with some information and solutions in about an 1hr. I'm just going to eat. x
