New Pitcher Alert 😁

Just in time for #cpclubthursday , Sangria’s newest pitcher opened up today! Right now, there are 2 other baby pitchers growing, and 2 oldsters that are on their way out. I love tracking the changes my plants go through, especially new growth. It’s just so satisfying to see your plants thriving!!! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PitcherPlant #Nepenthes #CarnivorousPlants #CarnivorousClub

Love it! One of mine is growing a pitcher very slowly. We will wait! Your plants are so beautiful!! I love tropical pitcher plants. 😊
@Fireplace Thanks so much! I love nepenthes tooβ€”they may be my favorite CP. I know what you mean about the pitchers taking a long time to grow, but it’s totally worth the wait! 😊
@LaSiguanaba I agree! It’s been taking Alatura over a month now to grow a pitcher because I transferred it to my vacation house for the summer. I love when they open up!! Nepenthes alata is my fav nepenthes by far.
@Fireplace My understanding is that nepenthes need higher humidity in order to produce pitchers. Maybe increasing the humidity would help them grow a little faster? Definitely couldn’t hurt! πŸ˜‰β˜ΊοΈ
@LaSiguanaba I can see why Nepenthes are your favourite CPs and I can tell you that when you see some of the wonderful pitchers out there it is easy to see why they are considered the Queens of CPs (or King πŸ‘‘ if you're in UK!!!)
I am loving the new pitchers already on my Red Leopard πŸ† but your pitcher with the deep blood red is appropriately named Sangria. So you know what cultivator ?
The Nepenthes Sanguinea might often be a bit dark red ? Nepenthes sanguinea, commonly known as the "Scarlet Pitcher Plant," is a carnivorous tropical pitcher plant native to Sumatra. This species is recognized for its unique, elegant pitchers that come in shades of red or burgundy, lending it the name "sanguinea," which means blood-red.
Another Hybrid is "blood red" and i found this interesting info:
"
Also known by the name β€˜monkey cups’, it was once thought that monkeys drunk water from their pitchers! The pitchers hang down from tendrils growing from the leaf tips and are full of digestive juices. Insects are attracted by sweet-smelling nectar within the lid of the pitcher and then lose their footing on its slippery lips, tumbling down into the pool of digestive juices below. Nepenthes β€˜Blood Red’ has especially eye-catching pitchers, bi-coloured red and pale green. Colouration is varied throughout the season"
But my other suggestion is "Bloody Mary " as it Rose up in the hybrid options
"Nepenthes Bloody Mary is a compact plant with bright red pitchers, which can grow up to 10 cm long and stay in shape almost all year round if kept warm. Being a very hardy hybrid (N. Ventricosa x Ampullaria), nepenthes Bloody Mary is an easy growing plant recommended for those ready to advance to the next level"
But whatever hybrid is it beautiful although I'm a little sanguine on your name choice πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒπŸ€©πŸ˜πŸ˜―πŸ˜˜
@Seymour Thanks Seymour! I don’t remember what the cultivator is, but I’ve enjoyed having a larger nepenthes. The traps are so impressive, and they can really handle some β€˜serious’ bugs!
Wow it's SO pretty! I love that bright red-orange color!
@JesssJungle Thanks Jess! This is my biggest CP, and I’m glad it’s really doing well! It has 3 new traps growing, and possibly a 4thβ€”not quite sure yet!
