“Rare Cactus” mystery

Couldn’t pass up this cutie, despite my terrible track record with these nondescript ”assorted succulents” (or, more accurately, ALL succulents…) and I have questions! 🙋🏻‍♀️

First, what exactly is this strange little thing? What do I need to know to avoid killing it as epically as I have every single cactus I’ve ever attempted? For instance—is it ok that I “repositioned” it when I transferred it from the 3” starter pot into the 3.5” ceramic one in the second pic? I immediately understood why it came so tightly packed 😬 and had a lot of problems getting them to “stand up” while growing in opposite directions, so I crossed them (which did the trick and looks cute, but for all I know they hate touching each other or something) and thought I’d better ask now while I can still reverse it if I have to!

And… now what? Help me, #SucculentSquad! 🙏🌵 #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #SucculentLove #GoldenTorch #CactusClique #Cactus #Cacti

They will need drainage as anything else does. Don't water them until all of the soil is dry. Once the soil is completely dry give it a good soak and leave it to drain.
They will want bright, indirect light. Direct light too suddenly could cause sunburn.
If they start getting wounds where they touch, they should be separated.

And lastly I don't know whag that cactus is. They look cute and silly though :3
@WildNorth, @ExecAudreyficus gave good advice, I think it might be a monkey tail cactus, which will eventually grow and hang over the pot. Look them up, they're really cool. Nice cactus 👍🤙
@ExecAudreyficus @FairyFly thanks so much! I’m trying to learn from past mistakes (turns out I mayyyy have been overthinking it…) I’ll keep you guys posted!
Hello, if it's a rat tail cactus, it won't be standing up but will be falling down, which is a standard form for it. When in bloom it produces a massive size red- orange color flower.
As for care, please listen to @ExecAudreyficus: good drainage soil, it's somewhat easy to care for (even if it's not a rat tail), it's Tubular, meaning you can go under watering as it stores extra in the core (stem), with overwatering you'll see wet mushy rot. You definitely want to avoid that. If it's really underwater it starts to shiver (the size of the tube will start to get narrow).
Please use indirect light, if attempting to bring to direct sun, train the plant, as many can be scorch as it comes from nurseries and who knows what conditions were in the store before you rescued it.
@Floristsdaisy thanks so much! I’m excited to see what it’ll become!
