Monstera has some brown spots, trim or leave be?

My monstera has been thriving, she looks so so good, but has a few brown spots around the areas where new leaves sprouted. I understand that those areas are no longer receiving energy from the plant, as they’ve served their purpose.

That said, should I trim them off or simply leave them be? I began peeling one off and stopped myself as to not damage the plant more.

Thanks! #Monstera #MonsteraMob

I usually peel the sheathes off when they are completely crispy and so happen to catch my eye, but only because it’s satisfying haha

They don’t harm the plant. Peeling them off when there’s still some life in them can β€œtechnically” make the plant more prone to infection of some kind, but considering we tend to chop Monstera’s into large chunks just to have them root (and thrive) in a bowl of water, I think it will be able to manage just fine ✨

If you prefer to have them gone, I’d say go for it πŸ‘Œ
If they bother you, you can carefully snip them the brown peteoles
