Tips for propagating Tree Aeonium?

I have my black tree Aeonium outside on my porch, and he fell over in a bad wind storm and broke. :( I let it callous a bit, and stuck it back into the dirt next to the stem. I figure at least the stem will grow back something and maybe even the top will root as well. It's been about a week and it's not dead or dying and seems firm to the touch as it should be. Has anyone done this before? ๐Ÿ˜… He is in quite nice succulent/cactus soil that I made myself. 1:1:1 soil, chunky perlite, coarse sand.

This spring I ordered aeoniums from Etsy and they all came as cuttings. Not much stem, no roots. I did what you did and plopped them in soil and they grew roots and are doing fine.
@PricklyThumb oh that's awesome! I figured as such, succulents usually do well with that method. I probably should have used a new pot but hindsight is 20/20, lol.
@JesssJungle haha you should have seen the nasty old pot I put mine in. I just scooped out the plants I wanted to move and put these in ๐Ÿ˜‚
