Plant Names???
This little beauty followed me home today, and she really needs a name. She’s a vining plant, and I plan to find a decorative trellis, so she can really shine! ✨✨✨ Please help me name her. Thanks! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #HelpMeNameMyPlant #NameMyPlants #LipstickVine

@LaSiguanaba Lipstick 💄 plant, do you know why she is called that? What an intriguing name for a plant? I will have to think on this one for a name 🤔
@LaSiguanaba Dr Wikipedia to the rescue:
They are usually trailing epiphytes with brightly colored flowers that are pollinated by sunbirds. The genus name comes from a contraction of aischuno (to be ashamed) and anthos (flower). The common name for some species is lipstick plant, which comes from the appearance of the developing buds emerging from the calyces.
My initial response is "Rouge Blush"
...but maybe it's Maybelline 💋 💄

@Seymour This actually reminds med of a very popular lipstick but I’m not sure it’s plant appropriate 😂
@LaSiguanaba or age appropriate 🤔 LOL 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😄
I like Lipstick 💋💄on my collar 👔 💋but I don't think Connie Francis suits your plant. I am sure someone can come up with a great lipstick 💄 name if you go down that line, I like Max...and also the name 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I missed your reply earlier without the 👍 ✔️ but I think this will be a fun naming ceremony 😊 💄👍👍😊 Great plant, even if a bit creepy 😆 🤣

@Seymour Well, touché, a Connie Francis reference. I become more and more convinced you are actually 90 yrs old, with your knowledge of obscure 60/70’s icons! lol😉🤣 Maybe I should call her Concetta? 🤔
@LaSiguanaba Who's sorry now?
Crazy, right? Willie or won't he/she find a good name. Concetta is nice ☺️ 🙂 Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero is even better, when you get to my age you will understand LOL 😆 😂🤣🎶🎵😂🤣😢👍🤩🥰

@Seymour I actually just looked at that Wiki page to double check my own obscure knowledge of 70’s pop culture trivia. When you get to be my age, the memory starts to go. (on the internet no one knows you’re 90) 🤣😂
@Champadampa Maybelline….🤔 I like it! Thanks Andrea. 😊
@LaSiguanaba Maybelline hmmmm Maybe? My lips are sealed 🤐
Rouge was invented before 💄💋 and was used in ancient Egypt. They used fat mixed with "Ochre" to get the red pigmentation.
The lipstick plant is native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia (think Thailand and Malesia).
Translated to Malesian, lipstick is "Gincu".
The general Hoya group (although I'm now reading it's not a hoya) is sometimes referred to as wax plant or porcelain flower. You could even call "her" "China" - I sort of like the ring of that.
According to Wikipedia
The first lipstick was created by Parisian maison Guerlain in 1870. "Paris" "Maison" or "Guerlain" are all viable options.

@JenniB81 I like Coco a lot!!! Thanks!
@PlantBeach I’m not sure if that’s frightening or hilarious 😂
@UltraKoreanfir I kind of like Guerlain… they make beautiful, albeit overpriced, lipsticks. It’s the cases they come in that make them special, lol Paris is also nice!
@UltraKoreanfir It’s very pretty too… I love the underside of the leaves
@LaSiguanaba what about Cupid's Bow, I was inspired by a song that was popular when I was young called Stupid Cupid. I think it was danced to in 1958, it was quite popular.
But I assume you know what s Cupids Bow is..
Full lips tend to be the most common shape which includes symmetrical volume on the top and bottom lip, while a defined cupid's bow or heart-shaped lips are rare and harder to come by

@Travanote1 Thanks! I fell in love with it when I saw it in the shop! Do you have any name suggestions? 😊
@LaSiguanaba Rouge, lippy, besame
@JenniB81 Thank you for your suggestions—I’ve decided to go with Coco after the infamous Ms. Chanel!!!
@LaSiguanaba yay! 🥳🥳 I'm ridiculously happy that you like my name! 🥰 Thank you RoseRed! Xx
@JenniB81 Love the name Jenni hun, it's a great one named after a great lady. I love Coco perfume but also Coco Mademoiselle. Brings back memories so i need to get me to a local Department Store to recall the smell.🧴 i was nearly going to say sexy but it's a bit more sophisticated than that.
There was a great movie about Coco Chanel, very interesting "romantic" life... interesting lady. Hope the plant lives up to her namesake.
Poor Connie Francis and all my poor attempts but so much fun. Adios Amigos 👋🙌👋👋 @LaSiguanaba

@JenniB81 Seems Im having trouble keeping up with Greg, and just now saw your reply, 😂. I’m glad i chose your name—it’s perfect! It’s fun snd flashy—love it!!! What a great idea @Corinne had creating this naming group! This was really fun and will definitely do it again! (Even if I let it fizzle in the end this time!!! 🤣)
@Seymour Thanks for bringing my attention back to this post! I had kinda of forgotten snd didn’t announce a winner—except to Jenni! Tho since I picked her name, it was good to have remembered to thank her properly. Things get zooming on Greg and I just can’t keep up! You seem to be very good at keeping abreast of all the news Seymour. What’s your secret? 😂
@LaSiguanaba I just bust a move, Young MC style. Sorry! A bit of a dated reference , sorry 😔😐 i am completely lost at sea in Greg but I just keep trying to cover what I can while I play with my music selections. Just listening to Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, love love love those darling guys, one was in a movie Body Double, it as a bit of naughty movie with Deborah Shelton and Melanie Griffiths, the set for Relax sequence was also used in Fright Night, what a frightening idea 😂😆😂😆
@Seymour There are so many 80’s references in your response, that I’m beginning to think you’re Living In The 80’s while Wearing Your Sunglasses at Night!!! Just trying to untangling the references in this reply is a challenge, but it Hurts So Good that I must Let The Good Times Times Roll. So keeping Walking On Sunshine and Shout, Shout, Let It All Out!!! 😁🤣😂😭
