is this stem becoming woody or is this root rot?
I got this new basil plant from Walmart, and I noticed the leaves were turning yellow from overwatering. I let it dry out for a couple days before repotting and now the leaves are green again, but I noticed this at the bottom when I finally bottom watered again today. Is this a concern? #SweetBasil

It just getting woody. But be aware that sometimes they do that when they are getting ready to bolt. Otherwise known as flowering and seeding.
You don't want that because if it's allowed to flower they turn really bitter and taste bad. So if you see flowers form pinch them off immediately. That way she'll keep growing for you.
If it's been very hot where you are provide shade, that really helps too. When temps get to high the tend to bolt really fast! ๐ฉท
