Best #Pots for #SnakePlant

Well hi #SnakePlantSquad and anyone else 😏 I have gotten FIVE new snakes in the past month - three tinies from #CaliforniaTropicals (named Eenie, Meenie, and Miney Moe) and two larger ones from #AltmanPlants through the #GregPlantShop

I’m good on soil and I’ve done well with snakes before, but I’m wondering which size/shape/MATERIAL I should select for their pots. I only water mine about once a month and don’t want them to rot!

AND if you have a set of cool looking pots you like a la @Gustavo posting about decorative pots, drop that down here too! πŸŒ±β˜€οΈβ€οΈ

The best pot materials for snake plants include terracotta, ceramic, plastic, metal, and concrete. Terracotta is excellent because it is porous and allows the soil to dry out quickly, which helps prevent root rot. Ceramic pots, especially glazed ones, retain moisture better, making them suitable if you tend to underwater your plants. Plastic pots are lightweight, affordable, and retain moisture longer, which is ideal for dry environments. Metal pots can work if they have proper drainage and are lined to prevent rust, but they can retain heat, which might not be ideal in very sunny spots. Concrete pots are durable and provide stability, making them good for outdoor use, but they might require extra care indoors to avoid overwatering. The best choice depends on your watering habits and the placement of the plant.

They are VERY resistant plants, so don’t worry too much about:)
Btw: my snake plant (one of them actually) is in a self watering pot; the other, in a common plastic pot. When I say they are resistant, I mean it. Just did a feature for my instagram on β€œPlants and extreme conditions” the other day and featured them lol
Fun fact: don’t know if this is a thing worldwide, but in Brazil, snake plants are considered symbols of good omens and good to have at home to send off bad energies :)
@Gustavo I love that!
@RealSimpleMama I just gifted one to my father (today is Father’s Day here and his birthday was on the 8th) because he really believes it and loves the plant. I also love it!
Since I am new to snake plants, I am playing it safe with terracotta for 2 of my 3. I have been fighting an overwatering battle over the summer with some of my succulents.
Oh, by the way, those are nice looking snakes! I’ve recently been bitten by the snake 🐍 obsession! My moonshine sansevieria came from California Tropicals, ordered through Amazon.
Cuties! 😍
I have to laugh some, that’s what I named my group of four πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
@RefinedSandwort me too! I have two snakes who have done well for a while so I recently decided I must have more! Plus I get to fill a school library plus my house 🀩
@PeppySpangletop lol!!! Really?!? They’re all so small and tiny, and my mind went blank on any fandoms or characters I haven’t yet used. So that’s what I came up with! πŸ€£πŸŒ±β˜€οΈβ€οΈ
@RealSimpleMama They aren’t so Teeny Weeny anymore πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
I have a birds-nest snake that lives in my oddish-pot (3D-printed plastic with 1 tiny drainage-hole). It fits perfectly and seems very happy in pon as medium. I believe you can have snake plants in anything as long as the soil is well-draining and you don't water muchπŸ˜„
@RealSimpleMama lol Sarah I am loving those names.. so healthy looking!! Happy for you! πŸ€—πŸ˜πŸ˜
@RealSimpleMama Looks like baby, mommy and daddy are having fun! Such a cuties! 😍
My baby is having a baby...
@MockingJay Mine live in plastic too, with succulent soil. I wouldn't be able to lift my biggest snake if it was anything else!
