You want a pot with really good drainage and before you water it you want the soil to dry out about half way

Personally i really like  see-through plastic pots cause it's really easy to watch the growth of the root ball

Monsters need a very chunky soil mix so a basic bag of soil , and then add perlite and bark you can also add charcoal and lecca

bark(for drainage) lecca(for a bit of water retention but also drainage) perlite(really good for airflow around the roots), coco cior(retaining enough moisture for the plant, in conjunction with the above!!! so as to not suffocate the roots)

The easiest thing to do is to get something that is labeled as a soil for tropical aroids (should say stuff like well-draining, works on cacti, they virtually always have a picture of a monstera, probably mentions containing some sort of bark, etc).

That said, I just mix my own. I use PRO-MIX HP as the base (it’s a peat-based well-draining soil-less medium with some amendments like perlite and biofungicides), and I throw in some orchid bark and pumice or lava rock.
