Is this actually a bush lily? #HappyPlants
The app says this is a bush lily, but it has never flowered or grown beyond just leaves. I bought it a few years ago so I don’t remember what it was. I am pretty sure it was a spider plant of some kind but none of the spider plants look like it. Any help would be appreciated! #BushLily #PlantID #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #SpiderPlant
@Guentzelvania Hey Alyssa! That definitely doesn’t look like a spider plant to me…no striping or skinny arching leaves like Chlorophytum comosum usually has. And while the app thinks it’s a bush lily (Clivia), it’s a bit tricky without blooms to confirm!!!!! From what I can see…The thick, upright leaves and central stalk make me lean toward Clivia miniata or even a Bromeliad, depending on how the base looks.
If it is a bush lily, it usually flowers in late winter/spring but only if it’s been chillin’ with low water and lower light in winter. They’re dramatic like that…. If it hasn’t bloomed for years, it may just need…tighter pot (they love root crowding!)Bright, indirect light
Minimal water during winter dormancy…Don’t toss it yet…it might be prepping for a surprise bloom moment like, “I’ve been mysterious on purpose.🤪

@JungleDreamer hi Nancy thanks for your insight. It might be a bush lily. The only things that’s throwing me is it has small spikes on the side of the leaves. All the bush lily pictures I saw did not have that so I guess we’ll see.
@Guentzelvania Maybe it’s a hybrid or one of those plants that’s like, “Don’t box me in, I’m rare.” Either way, I’m rooting for a dramatic glow up moment Let’s see what she’s been plotting in that pot!
