Maranta leaves have a slight velvety texture. I donβt recommend neem oil on that surface layer. Neem is an oil to polish not just protect from bugs and velvety textures donβt handle that well. You may want to provide high humidity for your plant so it can try to regain moisture in areas that havenβt been locked shut by the oil.
@MadiMonstera the alcohol probably really dried out her leaves. Maybe try misting her with just plain water to help rehydrate them???
@AnthuriumQueen this is true. Need oil can harm delicate leaf plants. I would put it in the shower and give it a good rinse.
@AnthuriumQueen thank you! I will be putting some rocks on the top soil to create some extra humidity for her & Iβm gonna mist her leaves very well
@Lilrobin930 do you think misting the leaves would be fine? the soil is very damp & I donβt wanna over water her
@MadiMonstera please donβt put rocks on the topsoil. That will lock in soil moisture and delay evaporation. You can put rocks in a saucer to elevate the pot and pour a little water at the bottom of the saucer without it reaching the bottom of the pot to create humidity. I personally give my plants a bath with liquid castille soap and water on the foliage only to cleanse away any debris or dust. You can try this with your maranta to get rid of any excess oil the Neem left behind. Iβve always sprayed that on the foliage and finger-rubbed it in very gently when it comes to my velvety leaves. Then rinse off without watering the soil. A small humidifier works wonders as well.
@AnthuriumQueen I did spray neem oil on my plants also, and my Satin photos itβs like this now. Now Iβm wondering if it is because of the oil also. What do you think?
@vanesa_rangell this looks like a fungus from moisture. You can wash the plant leaves like I mentioned above and make sure the soil doesnβt get wet. Then apply a liquid copper fungicide to the leaves and allow to dry. No brihght lights until 4 hours after foliage has dried. In your next watering, add a little liquid copper fungicide to help get rid of the fungus. Try that but also watch your watering. It takes longer for soil to dry when itβs cooler out but if your heat is on, itβll dry it out faster so monitor your humidity as well to help preserve your foliage.
@MadiMonstera that would probably be fine if you are sure you can get all the residue from the been oil and alcohol off. I had one of those I gave away because it didnβt like me. Every time I would mist it it would loose a leaf. So then I tried to keep it on the dry side and the same thing happened. πyours looks healthy other than that. Just try to get the oil and alcohol diluted or off. Hope you succeed! Itβs a pretty plant.
@AnthuriumQueen thank you so much!
@Lilrobin930 maybe the one you got just wasnβt in the best condition cause they love love love to be misted. I mist her usually 1-2 times a week & she perks up everytime.
